Inductions are the bane of my existence. Every site wants you to do their very special and unique induction... not because it makes you safer, but because it shields them from liability if you get hurt. And every induction is the same except MAYBE the hard hat colour for the fire warden is different, or the smokers hut is over there instead of over here, or the speed limit is 10kph instead of 15kph.
We're field techs so we go to 3+ sites per day, commonly covering Sunshine Coast -> Toowoomba -> Gold Coast sort of area. If we go to site multiple times, its normally 18 months between visits. Just enough time for the induction to have expired and have to do it again.
I should say.... we USED to go to 3+ sites per day. Now we go to 3 sites a day. And it'll probably be 2 soon. Productivity is out the arse because you spend all day filling in paperwork and waiting for people to send induction links / confirm submitted documentation / sign a permit / anything else but actually doing work.
Tempted to start focusing on residential just to get away from it all... though that has its own negatives (residential customers mostly).
On Friday Arvo at home I got an email telling me to go to a site to be inducted. I checked with my boss and he told me to attend. Yesterday I started a whole days worth of site inductions. During a five minute break, after the first part I checked my phone to see that my morning and afternoon inductions had been cancelled. Confused I saw the second teacher about it to be informed that I was in the wrong place. The exact place where I had been instructed to go by the way. I called my boss that told me I wasn't even supposed to be there. I headed back to the workshop. The induction started at 7:30, my boss is going to pay me from 6 am. Odd start to the week.
