Things already starting in Detroit
@zjti8eit @Taniwha420 This page has details (https://canonlawmadeeasy.com/...) but apparently a bishop needs a 'grave reason' to transfer a priest before their service period is up. Normally, priests will comply with their bishop's decisions, but they can fight it.
yeah, pretty much. The Archdiocse of Detroit is expected to lose 40% of their priests in the next 10 years, so AoD is currently going through a 'restructuring' that is expected lots of parishes to close. I expect to see a lot more crazies trying to "save grandma's church" and this priest seems to fit the crazy list if they are making him go through a psychological exam before he can return to ministry.

c/catholic s a place to present new developments in the world of Catholicism, discuss theological teachings of the Catholic Church, provide an avenue for reasonable dialogue amongst people of all beliefs, and grow in our own spirituality. Catholic Christianity offers the world the fullness of the Christian Faith.
And yes I did copy/past if from reddit. And yes I know I'm lazy.

I thought RC priests were unilaterally placed by their Bishops anyway. To me it sounds like he's refusing to sign a document that is redundant with his vows anyway. Do I misunderstand this? I know Anglicans have a conversation with their Bishop, but at the end of the day it's the Bishop's decision. I thought RC Bishops were more authoritarian than that.
