EDG C++ front-end goes Open Source

15 days ago by cmeerw to c/cpp

I've not heard of this before and the website didn't help with "what" and "why". What is this? Did anyone here use this, and what was your experience?

Seems like this is alleged to be a program that translates from one source language to another source language.

Documentation is a story book.

https://edg.com/c goes into a bit more details of what it is. You might actually have used it without realising it (for example, IntelliSense in Visual Studio is based on the EDG front end). Some of the companies using the EDG front end are listed on https://edg.com/customers (but some other users are not listed there).

I don't find Microsoft in the link you posted, but given the state of visual studio, it's understandable
