Florida’s Senate Bill 1134, called the “Official Actions of Local Governments,” takes effect on January 1, 2027 and it prohibits counties and municipalities from funding, promoting, or taking certain official actions related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. It also places restrictions on local DEI programs, offices, contracts, and grants.
Instead of rushing to cut funding for programs that serve LGBTQ+ residents and other diverse communities, local leaders in Miami Beach and Tallahassee voted to maintain existing support before Florida’s new anti-DEI law takes effect.
