"Avengers: Endgame" is once again the highest-grossing movie in box office history, reclaiming the title from "Avatar."

To be fair, the only reason "Avatar" was formerly the highest-grossing film of all time was because it was re-released multiple times.

And "Gone With the Wind" (the highest grossing film of all time adjusted for inflation) made the majority of its' money through decades of re-releases. So re-releases absolutely still go towards a film's total box office.
