How do I disable "updates available" checks and notifications?

7 days ago by overcast5348 to c/macos

I've got these two settings set to "off" but the OS checks for new updates and constantly bugs me with a pop up asking if I want to update the OS now or later. It just wont fucking stop. I gave in and updated to whatever the hell the newest version is today, but I want to ensure that it doesn't start bothering me again in a few weeks. Are there any more settings I need to look into?

Hmm I think there is a way but I do not remember how. I do recommend the security updates, but I pretty much never get prompted for other updates at all.

It's a really old laptop (Intel era) that's barely chugging along. Every new update makes it slower than it already is. :(

Click the (i) next to “disable automatic updates” — is there a “Check for updates” checkbox there?

I don't see that option, and have disabled everything else.
