This also happens after the bully sequence, he might be acting on the frustration from the week at school. Not sure if Waterson planned that far ahead, but I know some of his threads went together.
I know when I got bullied at school I tended to take it out on my siblings later at home. It’s a big regret from childhood, but my brothers forgave me (and got even plenty too over the years).

About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

The idea of Calvin having ADHD has been discussed to death, but really, as someone with severe ADHD, I get it. I feel like he absolutely does.
And you know what? After all the punishment and un-fun of the evening when consequences caught up… next time the possibility of trouble rears its head (under the guise of "fun"), you know already he'll leap in with both feet without further thought.
