I was just checking out buying an app on Mac outside the app store

Do I seriously have to give it my suh-hell phone besides also giving it a throwaway email?

Holy Invasive batman much 😱

That entirely depends on the app you bought. I have plenty paid, non-appstore apps on my mac that do not require a phone number.

What is your question exactly?

OP is asking questions compulsively on Lemmy, he is not serious IMHO.

Most online purchases need a credit card and phone number.

The answer? No. You can choose not to buy that app, and can even tell the seller why you’re making that choice.

With the glut of free software available, I can’t imagine paying for software in general these days.

I recommend installing AppLite (https://applite.app/).

There is no such thing as a Stupid Question!

Don't be embarrassed of your curiosity; everyone has questions that they may feel uncomfortable asking certain people, so this place gives you a nice area not to be judged about asking it. Everyone here is willing to help.

  • ex. How do I change oil
  • ex. How to tie shoes
  • ex. Can you cry underwater?

Reminder that the rules for lemmy.ca still apply!
