Or at least just allow the dipshit adults to drink it and forbid children from drinking it.
Prevention really is the best single way to keep children healthy and safe, and this is a preventive move...
Reminds me of public schools teaching kids abstinence only for sex ed because it's the only 100% prevantative method (and also because it's easier to just say "abstain" than to say "here are the measures you should take to be safe." This is a problem of lazy lawmakers.
Raw dairy should be made more legal and so that it can be intensely regulated. If raw milk dairy farms operated out in the light where they needed to have auditable food safety programs beholden to extra strict raw dairy specific rules, the situation would be very different in my opinion. And label the milk like cigarettes, with a huge warning from the surgeon general.
unpasteurized milk has morphed into a widespread movement rooted in wellness trends and institutional distrust
Unpasteurized milk tastes WAY better. I don't drink it, but if I did, it would be because of the taste. ALL the folks I know who drink it do so because of the taste.

Unpopular opinion: there's nothing inherently wrong with raw milk, but Americans don't know how to do raw milk. The only people it seems dealing with raw milk are absolute morons who will get fecal matter in the milk and sell it to people anyway. We make cheese with raw milk and manage not to kill anyone by following some pretty simple food safety rules, but Americans have had their whole raw milk scene co-opted by morons who don't believe in germ theory and think a con man is the best choice for president.
