How I use Claude Code subagents to make my Claude Pro limits last longer

6 days ago by codeinabox to c/aicoding

I use Claude Code with a 20â‚Ŧ/month Claude Pro subscription. Opus 5.5 makes the decisions, while Sonnet and Haiku subagents write the code and open the pull requests. Here are my agent files, my CLAUDE.md and how much it saves compared to using only Opus.

Note that the system prompts and tooling can make a significant difference. I recall the old haiku specifically having like a 30-40k token floor by default.

If you don't mind risking some behavioral changes and you know what to ask for, you can extract the existing prompts and carefully boil them down to the important bits you care about. Debloating skills, tools, and MCP also helps.
