I use cannabis on hikes due to inflammation issues.

When I walk for more than an hour, close to the two hour mark, my toes and the base of them on my foot part get insanely sore, red, start swelling, etc.
I take a few puffs off a vape, or take a little break with a proper smoke, and I can actually see the redness go away within minutes. Allows me to keep going.

I do the same when rowing, to ease my muscles, when going down a river with my friend.
