The Exorcist (1973) is one of the best horror movies ever made. I can't even imagine how much of a shock to the system that movie must have been for audiences who saw it when it originally ran in theaters and it still blows my mind that a movie could have such a massive impact.

The Exorcist III (1990) is not as good as the original but still a great movie. George C. Scott was a massively talented actor and they were lucky to have him as their lead. Jason Miller and Brad Dourif were also incredible.

But the thing is that they don't seem to have been able to do much with the premise beyond that. The other Exorcist movies weren't great. I don't know, I think they needed William Peter Blatty to make this premise work or something.

The Exorcist II is a horrible movie, but worth watching just to see how bonkers it is.
