YAFR: Yet another feature request

4 days ago by stinkytofuisgood to c/voyagerapp

This must be how the developers of YAML felt...

My last feature request was a bust! I'm back with a new one that I hope doesn't already exist this time lol

The ability to set private tags for communities and/or instances in an easily visible way. Perhaps coloured labels can be set.

For example:

Scoobydoo@lemmy.zoinks may have a green coured tag saying "small community, no politics, consensus: Velma hot"

Shitapple@lahey.park may have a red tag saying "crazy mod. Avoid if possible. Cheeseburgers welcome"

Etc.

In my mind this would help me categorize my short notes and thoughts on each of the quadrillion instances and communities within them.

Just a private note for mental organization.

Thoughts?

If you ever get this done I would absolutely love to read every synopsis you write for every instance / comm you visit.

Velma was the hot one, and I will fight on that hill. And win.

How would these tags display? What does the UI/UX look like? Having categories/tags for sorting the master list could potentially be useful, and you could display a colored orb next to it in posts on your feed? But that's as far as I can imagine the feature?

Keep up suggesting features, but the more fleshed out your suggestion is, like with images, implementation details, and caveats, the more likely it is to not be a bust.

Your orb idea kinda sounds like the same idea similar. I'm no UX designer but, on mobile at least, basically on a community page it could display a rounded rectangle with the background and text you want to enter. Maybe click to expand and edit. I guess maybe even two, one for community note and one for instance note.

For the search lists and other long lists, maybe just small orbs or whatever that you can click on to view your comments.

Idk like I said I'm not a UX designer and I'm sleepy haha, I trust the Voyager devs though and if they kinda see the vision I trust them. And if they think the idea is too rudimentary or bad then that's cool too.

Perhaps I'll return with a clearer mind, perhaps not. Ty for the advice

Edit: I like your ideas you mentioned now that I'm thinking about them more clearly. And I think they would complement the ones I gave, if I managed to explain them clearly without a pic that is...

Edit2: oh and maybe the orbs could have space for one or two letters just so re-used colours don't get confusing.

OK tired brain says no more Lemmy today.
