J. D. Vance’s spiritual memoir is short on the spiritual and long on hypocrisy, oscillating between complaints about “the elites” and half-baked policy ideas that show little engagement with the Catholic social teaching he professes to admire.

LOL, "the elites". Holy shit, he is one of the elite. Do words even mean anything anymore?
"JD" "Vance" is Thiel's boy. He went to Yale. He worked in venture capital, FFS. He is estimated to be worth $12 million last year, and who knows how much he's enriched himself in the year since.
Okay, not a billionaire (that we know of) yet. But he's also the fucking VP of the United States. He's not going to want for anything the rest of his life.
The right wing elitist fuckfaces like this need to get the fuck outta here with that "the elites" horseshit. They are the elite.
With his hatred of taxes and his lack of Christian compassion, he's awfully Calvinist for a self-proclaimed Catholic.
I think Trump either has dementia, or the drugs he's being given by his docs have serious side effects that we're all seeing and interpreting as symptoms of old age, and these people in the wings, Vance, and particularly Vought are the powers behind the throne. It is to their advantage to keep Trump in power, because none of them have the charisma needed to win an election.
Remember Seneca's quote, "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful."
When former New York Times columnist Ross Douthat asked Vance on a podcast what policies marked the Trump administration as particularly Christian, he replied that the administration had lowered taxes.
Apples and oranges. The bible generally says people should pay their taxes.

When someone tells you they value Faith, they are telling you they value belief without evidence.
They are literally telling you they have the mental habits of a child.
They should be kept away from decision-making roles.
