Anti-Indian racism has been surging in right-wing media
a day ago by technocrit to c/fediverse_vs_disinfo
Right-wing media’s racist attacks and ethnic slurs directed at Indians, other South Asians, and South Asian Americans have surged over the past year, in part fueled by conservative infighting over the H-1B visa program and a handful of viral posts...
I’m getting confused, which Indians don’t they like this time?
Not right wing media. Hindu fundamentalist gangs are terrorizing India and the rest of the western world.
Are all Indians bad? No, of course not. But India needs to reign in their population and take responsibility for the actions of their citizens or access to the rest of the world will be lost to them.
India has a religious culture problem. An anti-lgbt problem. Anti-christian problem. Anti-Sikh problem. Post-English colonist problem. Infrastructure problems. Sexist problem. Rape problems. Gang problems. Tiny dick syndrome problem. Etc.
But they are Indian problems, not our problems. I have no issue with Indians being welcomed to our country. I have issues with the radicalized Indians bringing their ideals here with them, which they indeed are.
My wife works with a lot of Indian Nationals and most are the sweetest, kindest, most grounded people you could meet anywhere. Then there are the rest.
I'm not saying I agree with the right wing crazies. I'm saying you are being a little naive here.
Edit: I forgot the fraud farms from India that steal millions from the elderly and other vulnerable populations in the western world. Doesn't exactly paint a positive picture for them on the world stage.
Edit: "ring" to "wing".
Not right ring media.
Tell me you don't know what the term right-wing means without telling me you don't know what the term right-wing means.
Post-English colonist problem.
Care to explain what you mean by this? I'll ignore your other (right-wing) ranting about India's (supposed) problems for now.
Sorry, I don't speak idiot.
Do tell, right-winger... which brand of reactionary politics do you bootlick for? The liberal or the fascist kind?
Or do you need someone like me to identify it for you... as per usual?
Boy, you come across as someone who really does a good job bringing folks into your "left" ways of thinking. I bet you are really fun at parties!
Oh right, no one invites you to parties.
Imagine, thinking everyone who disagrees with you is "right wing". Does it hurt your feeling when people tell you the truth? Do you typically lash out as you have here or do you hug your teddy and cry under the covers? Bit of both?
Truth is truth wee one. Facts are facts. Implying people are stupid when they toss actual verifiable facts your way sounds an awful lot like what Trump does to his critics, along with every other fascist. YOU are the one acting like the right-wing person in this conversation, and I think a quite typical one, where every accusation is a confession. I'm quite confident that if I tried to engage you in an actual fact-based conversation, you would bring nothing but whataboutisms and the twisted realities you have let yourself brood in.
Henceforth, you shall be labelled "Alternative-Facts-Loving-Facist-Dolt".
Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post and showing how fucking unga bunga you are.
Do you think people in violent gangs are usually intelligent? Honest question. I want to see your reasoning for questioning it's credibility. Read up on the Hindu v. Sikh fighting that has been plaguing Surrey, BC for nearly 30 years. Also, check out the Indian RSS leader doing his tour of North America. The timing isn't coincidental.

I think large scale organized crime requires a certain level of strategy and forward thinking. I don't see many gangs writing to the government to tell them how much of a threat they pose to the government. It is bad for business.
Yes, of course. But this isn't organized crime along the lines of monetary gain. This is organized crime along the lines of religious fanaticism/extremism. The former wants to stay hidden to make money. The latter wants to be seen to be feared.
What you've said is essentially "my wife works with one of the good ones" - you're barely even masking it bro. 😭
For the record, I think your assumption is nonsense. Facts are not racist. I made no statement in my OP that was racist.
But, for a second, imagine I was an uninformed/misinformed person who was being casually racist, without knowing it. Your response is to laugh, belittle and ostracise them, rather than teach them how they are being racist, and why being better is important?
Quite the movement you folks have going here. Good luck.
Do you seriously expect me to have a debate with every shitty racist I come across?
I'm an immigrant living in Canada too. No roving gangs of Indians have terrorized me despite living in the western world. So fuck out of here with your very first statement of "Indian gangs terrorizing the western world". If anything, it's the white supremacists who have been terrorizing the entire fucking world for the last few whatever's.
I'm sure that India has a thousand problems. I'm not an expert on India. You using those problems to justify your racism isn't helping anyone. You're just a racist piece of shit. At least own that and put on a hood. Peace.

Educating doesn't necessarily mean debate. Challenging someone's beliefs doesn't need to be a fight. Teaching/helping someone to be better shouldn't be a chore.
From the sounds and content of your angry response, I'd wager you haven't tried very hard. You've replaced "grace" with "race" in your mind.
How wrong you are. Welcome to Canada. Try the civil discourse. It's lovely.

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.
Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.
What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.
By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.
