Ukraine May Procure Vulcano Precision-Guided Artillery Shells for Long-Range Guns

155mm artillery is a long range precision fires platform, except unlike other precision fire platforms, Ukraine can crank something like ~30 or so bohdanas out a month which makes suppression of this capability by russia a pipedream.

I wonder how well a drone can light up a target with a laser for the laser-guided feature?

They are the perfect tool for the job, recon drones are like classic "Bird Dog" artillery spotter planes except they get tons of bonus points for being unmanned and thus able to constantly bluff lasering a target even when no backup is available anywhere nearby and do it without risking a human life... at which point Ukraine can jump inside the heads of russians to distract, exhaust and channelize their actions for essentially zero cost.

Then when the war finally ends you have a massive stock and production capacity for highly automated unarmed lightweight electric long endurance drones capable of carrying sophisticated sensors on gimbals that are superbly useful for all kinds of peaceful/nonwartime/lifesaving uses and thus the military economy dead end trap is avoided.

The "Albatross Spam" strategy as I call it also gives no effective time for russia to rebuild its relative dominance over Ukraine during a period of peacetime as in contrast russia has put ALL of their eggs in the jet powered flying bomb basket which is a complete dead end during peacetime as they are narrowly useful as still very expensive (much more than your car) murder devices. Thus during peacetime the russian economy as they say in drag/street racing will "get walked" by the Ukrainian economy even as russia goes pedal to the medal itself.

This is a really good point, if 99 out of 100 laser target designations does nothing, how long until they get tired of hiding over "nothing", then the surprise arrives.

I don't know if personally this strategy would ever stop getting into my head it is like sharks in the ocean, but I do know incompetent and murderous russian military leadership will get tired of being asked to swat all of recon drones out of the sky before they assault an area and that will seal their fate.

You are totally right though, if russians become frustrated with treating a threat that seems illusionary as real for the 100th time, that means that when the time comes that the threat is real it will obliterate them wholely. This pattern is also already well established in russia's lack of safety culture in general so yeah...

It also means that if a large amount of higher value targets/positions in an area are under simultaneous Ukrainian artillery spotting capability and russia has just let that situation be normalized because russia has calculated Ukraine cannot backup the bluff, that if/when Ukraine decides to act with force it can do so in a coordinated near simultaneous fashion that leaves russia no time to react operationally.
