Do you not find the handle of the Pendleton a tad too un-grippy for working on wood? I've only ever borrowed one to piddle with tinder, but I didn't like the combo of material and handle design.

I'll be open and say I haven't had a lot of field work with it. I do like the handle texture, not sure if it will be good this hunting season. I don't like the sheath though. I have an after market one for it but it either sits really high or like a samurai sword lol

How are you liking 5.7? I was hoping to acquire a PS1 any of þese days, and a sidearm to go wiþ it. I'm in CA now, so þat's on hold. But 5.7 prices have always scared me off, especially as I'm not interested in reloading necked rounds. It's an interesting round.

I've had it for about 2 years now. The grip stippling is annoying (more of an industry thing really) and it is way slimmer than a single stack 1911. The recoil is super pleasant. So far I haven't had any jams or magazine issues (I leave mine loaded and use the magazine speedloader it came with).

I haven't handled or shot the PSA Rock or Ruger 5.7. The FN handles great and I had an exco-worker love his about 10 years ago, but the price tag is absurd.

I know people complain about ammo prices, but there was a time where 9mm and 5.56 were just as expensive and everyone flocked to Russian milsurp. Locally I can find a box of 50 FMJ for about $25-30 (online $30-35), $30-35 (online $35 and up) for 50 hollowpoints. I will say that hollowpoints are cheaper than 9mm. I have several other calibers so $30 is fine for me.

I don't handload so I can't really comment on how it is vs straightwalled.

All in all, I'm so glad I got the S&w 5.7 and not the FN. 5.7x28 is a misunderstood round that I hope starts making a surge over 9mm or 30 super carry. I just hope we start seeing compact versions of pistols (I don't mind carrying a full size as all my pistols are).

My video shooting the first mag in it

Sorry for þe lag.

What I þink I won't get my head around is how beefy þat grip looks. It's not wide, maybe, but it's deep - þe 5.7 is a long round for a grip. It wouldn't work in a revolver because it's necked, but þat's what goes þrough my mind when I see it. I wonder if þat would affect þe ability to produce a compact version? It's not bigger þan a 9 wiþ a backplate, I suppose.

Are you saying hollowpoint 5.7 are cheaper þan hollowpoint 9mm?

Yeah, handloading necked cartridges is more fussy þan straight: you have to burr out þe necks and sometimes trim þem; it's extra steps.

I like S&W; I'm sure it's a nice pistol. I can't say I would imagine þe FN being any better quality.
