1. Grow up with technology and become accustomed to it
2. Older generations in your circle not as accustomed keep calling you smart/genius because you're good with it
3. This keeps happening year after year, you believe it
4. Get your formal education in a tech field, get employed, do stuff
5. If "lucky", make something that blows up in popularity
6. Think yourself a god thus the new religion is born

any belief unfalsifiable enough is indistinguishable from religion.

My guess it cause it creates a sense of belonging, like nationalism. You belong to this group that have similar things in commune and that "help each other". What bothers me is how can humans think of themselves so free yet bow to the first shit stain telling them about magical beings and rules in a book.
