Good shave, but I'm tired.
Have a good night!

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Draconis Noctem for this shave.
Theme: Blind Date - okay, I'm not exactly on theme today, but hear me out.
This soap is from a PIF from u/cowzilla3 (Adventus Calendar). He arranged 24 pouches numbered for each day. Each pouch had a Target pill box filled with a soap sample (except one day where the pouch was taped to a whole tub of Burn The Ships). The pill boxes had a post-it with a hint of what soap was in it. I knew the post-its wouldn't survive my sample drawer, so I numbered them and made a list. Little did I know the pill boxes are impervious to Sharpie's. This particular soap sample lost its number many months ago. I have no idea what soap it is. What I do know: it's old and spicy. It's not Remote Learning, Burn The Ships, or War. It gave a really nice shave. I paired it with real Old Spice AS and EdC for maximum relevance.
Daily Challenge: Golden Pineapple - I don't think this exists but I'm not well versed in the frag world. Tornado Alley - Top: honeysuckle and fresh cut grass; Heart: the smell of a thunderstorm and rain; Base: Texas barbeque cooking (you know, no glaze), peppercorn, pecan wood, mesquite wood, not-lite beer, and oakmoss (full bore, illegal in the EU strength).
It should be nominated for the OIP because it puts the smeller at the nexus of peace, family, and possible imminent danger or an interesting nature show.

Great shave. I refreshed the edge on this razor after 13 shaves on the last edge. Big improvement. I honed it during my sons bath time last night, and he said "that razor is more beautifuler than your other razors" (he's 4 so it's cute). Big compliment to Koraat!

October 13th, 2026: Blind Date
Theme justification - u/loudmusicboy and I have a bit of a thing going on, it's no big deal.
He graciously sent me this smush for today's mail order blind date, and it gave me a great shave. The scent was in the direction of Hygge but with more white florals. Maybe some similarities with Shire, but without the dirt. There's also a very faint herbal quality, almost like rose stems.
The lather performed great! Excellent slickness and took as much water as I wanted to give it. I was leaning toward it being a HoM scent, but I can't find one that fits what I'm smelling.
Could this be Royal Bloom from Adopted Acres? I guess we'll see if my other half wants to fill me in.
Relevant Post Shave or Frag - Good old Stetson. Its citrus and sage blended nicely with the florals and herbs from the soap. An excellent pairing.
Daily challenge - August through October in New Mexico is green chile roasting season. All over the state, mostly in grocery store or big box parking lots, people set up propane-fired chile roasters. You can either bring your own bag of fresh chiles or usually buy a bag nearby.
I want to bottle the scent of being in Santa Fe during chile roasting season. The peppery and slightly spicy scent of roasting chiles on the air, with hints of juniper, pine, and sage. Maybe a subtle base of coffee or chocolate, a nod to the shorter days of the approaching winter.
Feels like it'd be hard to pull off well, but I'd wear the hell out of it.
$FOF - I have no idea what scent notes were really in this soap, but the floral, herbaceous, and lightly earthy notes blended beautifully with Stetson's sage, citrus, and cedar.
Stirling Gentleman -- with it's tobacco, vanilla, amber, and musk -- brought the progression to a classy, refined finish. Stirling Gentleman is one of the fragrances Robert Sterling made himself, and it's a lovely, rich tobacco scent. It's one of my wife's favorites around the holidays.
