Thanks! PS plus extra sounds great! Do new releases come to it as well, like Xbox game pass? Often new titles come to that on day 1.

Some do, but much fewer than on Game Pass, it's not the model Sony is trying to push.
That being said, you'll usually find first-party titles after a year or so (but they might not stay indefinitely).
I would recommend taking a look at gamika.me if you want to get an idea of how both services compare. I personally enjoy both, maybe for slightly different reasons? I still think PS Plus Extra is a great deal though!
Nothing suggests buying a PlayStation is ever a bad idea unless you're broke or addicted to gaming
If you are patient, you can play for extremely cheap. Buy the disc version, buy the game used, complete and sell it for a minimum loss or even a gain. Or keep it. Doesnt take many months before used versions are half the price or lower than on release. Also PSPlus Extra is insane value with so many AAA games included.
If the cost of games is your barrier, it's smart to spend the extra on a disc console - disc games get cheaper MUCH faster than digital games, plus you have the option for second-hand.
Between discs and the frequent PSN sales, you shouldn't ever have to pay full price for anything if you have a shred of patience.
Unless there’s something you’re dying to play, I might wait and see if there’s a ps5 pro in 2024. Historically it’s been about 4 years after launch.
I doubt we'll see a PS5 Pro next year, if at all. We've only ever had that in one generation of consoles across the entirety of gaming, and there was a 4K push and a processor that had fallen behind. This generation, we're seeing extended crossgen support, and not a lot of games pushing next-gen visuals yet. I think we'd all feel a little left out to dry if a pro version came out. A slim version seems totally reasonable to me though, especially if rumors are true that Sony wants to switch to a single PS5 model with an optional disc drive attachment.
I wanted a ps5 pretty badly at launch, but everyone knows how difficult it was to actually get one at retail prices. I know they're fairy easy to buying now, but I've waited so long at this point that I may as well wait for a pro version like you mentioned.
The big difference between Nintendo and Sony or Microsoft is that Sony and Microsoft actually have decent sales pretty often. Nintendo never really have sales. You have to wait for a really long time for a lackluster sale, or buy a gift card that's on sale or something similar to that.
PS5 has sales pretty often, and they're quite good. Also, like other people said, PSPlus Extra is just too good to pass up.
thanks for using Leebra!

I bought a PS5 for three main reasons:
Every game that’s going to come out until the PS6 will be made with it in mind. The sooner I got a ps5, the sooner I can be caught up hardware wise.
Games are optimized for consoles.
PS Plus Extra is amazing especially as someone who hasn’t played since the PS3.
It’s up to you at the end of the day. I personally went for it because I didn’t want to bother with PC anymore and just wanted something that worked without spending hours in the graphics settings and tweaking it forever.
Just make sure that the games released on it will appeal to you. DS2 does, but look beyond that as well.
