Nintendo Plans 'Smooth Transition' from Switch to Next Console by Using Players' Nintendo Accounts | IGN

Nintendo is planning to give Switch players a "smooth transition" to its next console using Nintendo Accounts.

If they just mean you won't have to create a new account, that's a pretty low bar. I've never been impressed with Nintendo's online support, but wow, this is pretty weak news.

Kinda funny the fanfare if this is it. I agree, Nintendo has always had a low bar in this area. It's a good thing still.

Sounds good. But the real question is what happens to all of the games we bought? I don't want to deal with another e-shop closure and lose all of the games I paid for.

Nintendo would love to force you to rebuy those games for each console you own. Question here is do you stir up drama or do you double triple quadruple dip?

Should have been a thing since the Wii. It would be cool if Switch games were playable on the next console, too.

I'm afraid their next console won't have backwards compatibility, I hope I'll be pleasantly surprised.
