I've become much more open to different types of music and less likely to immediately judge or hate on anything.

My tastes didn't really change, they just got bigger. Admittedly I was a classic rock fan in my youth, so it's not like The Doors goes out of style quickly.

Main difference is I largely stopped caring what other people think. So the classic rock song could easily be followed by an early Miley Cyrus song in one of my more modern playlists.

I would say yes. Growing up I was into stuff you would find on the radio. System of a Down, korn, stone temple pilots. Now I listen to a lot of different music. I would say thanks to Spotify it has helped me discover things I would have never discovered.

Same for me. I still love what is now considered "dad rock" (can you believe that?!). But I now find myself gravitating more towards modern alternative pop-ish rock. However, Spotify has definitely allowed me to broaden my range. I still don't enjoy the "hits" or country music, though.

Used to be into grunge and metal. At some point got really into electronic. Mostly jungle and psytrance. Still into that, not so much metal anymore though doom metal is still great.

i still haven't passed my grunge and metal phase. curious, what eventually turned you off from those genres?

Oh I'm not turned off from the genres. I still listen every once in a while. But as time went on, I just ended up listening to and getting into the finer points of different genres.

I think the unit thing u really can't stand these days are certain types of rap (mumble rap and whatever blshit 50 cent is), pop, Christian rock and new country.

Yes, quite a few times really. Used to be into happy mindless pop as a teen, got into black and death metal as a student, then went through alternative, postrock and experimental stages. I can’t even say that I prefer a certain genre anymore. Currently my kind of thing is listening to random playlists of unknown music on Spotify.

On the other hand, both of my best friends still like the same music we used to listen to in our late teens.

What about you OP?

thanks for asking! my style hasn't changed since i was a teenager - as a teen i listened to hip hop, rap, metal, grunge, classic rock, southern rock and blues. nowadays i don't listen to much music, but when i do it's grunge. precovid i was into the metal scene.

Not really, but I'm less elitist about it. I'm still a metalhead. I still like a good headbanger. But the first Nickelback album is pretty good.

My taste in music is still changing. I will love a band or genre deeply for about six months before moving on to something else

is there a theme between the genres/bands?

Not really! I think it's just that I'm always trying to find something new. A lot of the music that I enjoy now I would have hated as a teen, and having listened to a bigger range of genres and styles has kind of killed most musical nostalgia for me.

I can't think of anything I won't give at least a chance to, and I've built up a muscle where I give more consideration to music that I initially bounce off of. There's a reason that somebody likes it, so I try to find that and listen from that perspective.

Only a bit. I was very into heavy metal and hardcore, and I still am. Dubstep and Hyperpop weren't around back then, but I enjoy some of it now that it exists. I'm also self confident enough to not worry about people judging me, so if I want to listen to Barbie Girl by Aqua and sing along, I'll damn well do it.

Definitely. I was into Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails as a teenager. I still like them, but I've discovered trance and jazz since then.

Oh god its completly changed, as a teen I was all about trance and hard house, now I can't stand the stuff. All about metal and hard rock heading into my 40's.
