Ever other platform is just ass. I have played games on Epic, Battlenet, Ubisoft and the EA launcher but they all barely have basic functionality. Meanwhile steam has:

  • good UI (store & settings)
  • no forced ads
  • reviews
  • discussions
  • workshop
  • player stats
  • a lot more settlings / options

Steam seems to be the only one that actually puts any effort in providing a good user experience. It's more than just a store / launcher and noone else is even trying to compete.

One of the smallest games in terms of disc space is Animal Well with under 40mb.

From multiple apps Hinge actually worked out the best for me despite having some traits that aren't ideal for dating apps (short, unemployed, autistic). The algorithm adapts quite quickly to what you like so I see mostly alternative people, nature friends and scientists. I've been using it for a few weeks and out of my 7 matches 5 were biologists.

The dude is right tho about sending likes and comments being useless, every match I got was from women liking me first. But that's where Hinge is better than other dating apps: you see who liked you without having to pay.

I'm always baffled how pointless that subreddit is. Almost every question asked there barely requires any math. Usually it's just look up two numbers and then do one basic operation. Or even worse, questions that aren't even answered by math at all.

They aren't road legal by EU laws either, although there are a hand full of owners from EU countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Austria) that managed to get theirs registered through exceptions.

"Ein am Montag vorgelegter erster Expertenbericht kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass die Anbauvereine den Schwarzmarkt nicht verdrängt haben."

:o

Etwas anderes könnte auch nicht zu erwarten sein nachdem es solange gedauert hat bis Lizenzen verteilt wurden. Es gibt scheinbar jetzt Deutschlandweit ~300 genehmigte Vereine von denen viele aber erst im Sommer 2025 ihre Lizenzen erhielten.

Well it does happen somewhat regularly. People (often from poorer countries) get on planes as stowaways. Most times they can only get into the wheel well, sometimes cargo holds. But they dont know that these non-passenger areas often aren't heated or pressurized and either freeze to death or suffocate during high altitude flight. Getting crushed in the wheel well during take off or falling out it during landing can also be deadly.

I think it's the (fear of) drones. Most russian troops don't have any effective detection or countermeasures against them. Artillery hits are often followed up by drone attacks and Ukrainian infantry also heavily relies on reconnaissance and support from drones.

There are so many videos from the early stages of the war starting with a single russian soldier getting wounded by artillery, a drone grenade, mine or sniper. Attempts to rescue them then lead to more and more drone casualties. Getting stuck in this situation then makes it a matter of time before artillery, more drones, or Ukrainian ground troops show up to finish the job.

The result are panicked retreats where everyone tries to save themselves. The general lack of training and resources probably doesn't help either.

I've been liking & sometimes using the term for a long time. To me it's more lighthearted and less clinical sounding. People understand what's meant and it also works well when talking about someone who isn't diagnosed but clearly has a brain that works differently.

From the article: "The doors in a Model Y become inoperable when power is cut off to a battery, which forces any occupant to perform a manual release; unfortunately, it's difficult for children to activate the feature."

While it's nice that EVs burn less often, Tesla vehicles specifically becoming a death trap is nothing new. It's straight up unsafe design that these cars can't be easily opened from the inside or outside rescuers in emergencies.

Another issue is that EV fires are often incredibly hard to extinguish. I read in another German article about this accident that a first responder used a normal fire extinguisher on the car but was not able to put the fire out. (He was also the one who was unable to open the doors as people where screaming inside.) When Firefighters arrived and extinguished the flames the vehicle kept re-igniting several times.

By 11:30 p.m., workers in the MIC area were feeling the effects of minor exposure to MIC gas and began to look for a leak. One was found by 11:45 p.m. and reported to the MIC supervisor on duty at the time. The decision was made to address the problem after a 12:15 a.m. tea break, and in the meantime, employees were instructed to continue looking for leaks. The problem was discussed by MIC area employees during the break. When the tea break concluded at 12:40 a.m., the reaction in tank E610 escalated to a critical state at an alarming speed within five minutes.

I wonder why that could be... Surely the rules & mods being obnoxious has nothing to do with it.

Look at the gold price for the last 10 years, it's steadily rising. We keep producing more electronics that need gold. At the same time some gold is lost because not in all tech it can be easily recycled. On top of that gold mining is becoming more expensive because a lot of easily accessible gold has been mined out.

So even if this technology could create additional gold in the future it probably won't out scale the growing demand.

I never really understood the difference between insults and slurs. Somebody said that slurs target groups of people and imply that just being in the group is bad. That explanation works for ethnic/racial slurs or the ones regarding gender/sexualities.

But to me "retarded" is not specifically tied to a group. It's not mainly used for people who are disabled or neurodivergent for example. As far as I'm concerned it's the same as calling someone a moron or incredibly stupid.

Most generative AI isnt even artificial intelligence by definition. Technically most of it falls under deep learning or machine learning. But that doesn't sound as marketable as pretending chat bots are intelligent now.
