Jesus fucking christ. It's the "Am I allowed to participate in society?" all over again. No, it's not some huge hypocricy to have an extra flat that you rent out, or to work a high salary job. It's also not a crime to want some comforts and even luxuries.

The landlords in pre-revolution China were essentially feudal lords, not people with a bit of extra wealth that still laboured for their living. There's no point in looking down on people over what is little more than pittance for an actual capitalist today, those arseholes take trips to the bottom of the ocean for the money your parents accrued over their lifetime.

I feel I would've been a lot softer if I hadn't read the comments. I also struggled with this when I was younger. If you truly can't fathom being petit bourgeois, just sell it when you inherit it, though be wary that the buyer may be another leech looking for investments. Otherwise I'd say it's sufficient that you keep in mind that as a human being your interests lie with the preletariat. It might be even better if you used your money to support revolutionary activity.

Kids have always dreamed of vocations. Kids feel that calling sense in a much purer way than adults can. They want to sing so they want to be a star. They want to make new things, invent stuff, so they want to be scientists. They want to be cool as shit so they want to become astronauts.

Capitalism fucks that up in so many ways. I'm not even talking about the fact that western kids today want to be streamers. Nowadays (as in as has been for decades) there's no calling, even kids realise that being the lowest grunt in whatever organisation isn't much of a goal so they also dream of "advancement", except that means doing less of the thing you want to do to manage. And if you advance enough, you get to not do that thing you went in to do.

Worst of it all, this is just what we face as kids. To say nothing on the alienation we suffer from, to feel like an animal doing human actions and human fulfilling animal needs. Folks got so used to the term wage slavery that they don't even comprehend how inhuman labour under capitalism is.

He doesn't acknowledge PRC's achievements, doesn't support AES except Cuba (I think) and doesn't align himself with other anti-imperialists. He attacks journalists critical of the west, I faintly recall a bona fide NED spook quote tweeting BE to attack the Greyzone.

Insofar as he limits himself to attacking rightists, especially the ones claiming to be socialists, he's fine.

I didn't know iconoclasm meant being against teachers.

Because that's what these two men have been. They're known for their lectures and their books. They've done fuckall to foster a cult around them.

An actual chinese person calling it "The Great Chinese Famine" sounds quite suspicious regarding their intentions, much like tinyman massacre. That's not what they call it, probably because despite the x approaching infinity estimates by western chucklefucks, it wasn't even the worst famine of the century. (It sure as shit was the last though)

Of course they brought up the cultural revolution in the same breath as a famine. There were mistakes to be sure, but there was no intention to divide the people in such a way. Not to mention, these mistakes were learned from. As opposed to liberal regimes, which only learn from their mistake of not suppressing leftist movement enough to correct that. All else is a farce with them.

Guy's telling us to live in China; fool, don't threaten me with a good time.

You're a good kid but you're still thinking in absolutes like an idealist. I get thet your parents are ideologically backwards, I get that they're indulging in exploitation, but if I'm reading it right they aren't professional landlords or anything. They're still labourers and have one extra flat they're renting out. That's very near the bare minimum they need to provide comfortable lives to themselves and their children.

Today it's near unavoidable to have some money and not engage in some petit bourgeois behaviour, to an extent that doesn't necessarily make someone petit bourgeois. Keeping your money in a rented flat or shares in companies (as it would be in those pension funds) is participating in exploitation, but what are your alternatives? Keep it in the bank and the interest they'll give you is less than inflation. Buy a flat and keep it empty, now you're participating in the housing market the same way as landlords refusing to lower the rent. I suppose you could buy gold and hoard it somewhere.

Your parents aren't bad people for participating in the society they live in and neither are you for "profiting" off that. As for their ideological inclinations, people don't leave liberalism by being convinced. They see the conreadictions of capitalism and have someone explain what it is they saw and how it fits into the bigger picture. Watch out for that and you may make comrades out of them yet.

That they're god's gift to earth and that they earned everything they've got. If you were convinced you had created a company the size of a country all by yourself, you'd think that when you shit what touched the ground was golden apples too.

Should I quote Lenin in Socialism and the War and Imperialism: the Latest Stage of Capitalism, on that? Do I need to remind comrades that Lenin saw Tsarist Russia as a nascent imperialist state with a mix of feudal colonial elements and modern imperialist elements all that tied to it being dominated by British and especially French capital? The excuses then that today's Russia, an advanced capitalist state with sizeable capital export and control in its immediate region (larger than under Tsarist Russia to be noted), is therefore not imperialist is lazy. We must remain consistent. We must remain scientific, but very importantly we must remain clear eyed: The fact that the current war is an inter-imperialist one does not mean that we must ignore that the primary aggressor is undeniably western imperialism and its war dog the NATO "alliance".

We indeed must remain scientific. That requires us to consider things that happened post-1924. This idea of labelling Russia imperialist, a shaky argument to being with, and then asserting that this makes the sides similar enough to not proclaim support is little more than idealism.

If we're throwing out quotes, let's also being in Stalin, Litvinov, Molotov. Why are we even pretending war between capitalists is happening for the first time since 1918, why are we ignoring the monumental though largely fruitless efforts of the USSR to rally the imperialists against Nazi Germany? Why pretend we've never allied ourselves with the US and UK when so many people's movements received assistance from them, even if for the purpose of fighting their enemies?

Since multipolarity today depends on PRC not making moves to become yet another hegemon, it also depends on one's position on China.

You may have a point in who leans in which direction, in that comrades that have been organised for some time have a bias against China, but that's not a clever value judgement. Since older comrades lean this way, and the leadership are older in many parties, unions etc, it makes sense that this bias would be made official policy.

It might read like I'm devaluing it calling it bias, and that's exactly what I am because that's all that it is. I say this having talked to many of them and seen the clear contradiction in the party policy. Old leftists are quite often parroting anticommunist tropes re China, such as no freeze peach, no free thought, or direct quote ”They run people over with tanks over there." These people aren't stupid, they just come from a time when China didn't respond to western misinformation.

I'd suggest to Mikey to stop trying to wage the war on tweeter, put his money where his mouth is and join the frontlines. If Russian defenses are on the brink of collapse as he's implying, there should be minimal risk of injury.

Or maybe he's a lying coward, what do I know.

How do we deal with them now? Do the police catch murderers, rapists, robbers and thieves? Even in the cases when they can, how often do they take the case?

You should look into whether these institutions work in the way they claim they do first. Some places are better and others are worse, but their main function is to be the running dogs of capital, not protecting the people. That's why they excell at the former and are a net negative at the latter.

The west was still getting a good deal out of China 15 years ago, so they were walking the same tightrope as with the dictatorships they backed: circulating enough bad facts about them, true or false, without riling the people up too much, lest they demand action be taken against them.

What's amazing about the current coverage is how they've mastered the big lie. Bourgeois information control is so great that people don't think twice about the most ludicrous claims about China, Russia etc unless they've already got gripes about the capitalist system they live under.
