What, and the US doesn't? That last part is true, at least.

Yeah, and the platform is set up in a way that hinders onboarding and discoverability of what's there (at least, compared to youtube's approach..). These are all problems that prevent it from replacing YouTube. If you read Peertube's official site they even say upfront that they're not trying to be a YouTube replacement

We need a good federated youtube replacement so badly...

I wouldn't disagree. But not every Republican is on board with or even aware of what's happening. As someone who's escaped a cult, it's hard to see through a smoke screen of propaganda, misinformation and dogma when you're surrounded by it. Getting us to fall into left vs right, black vs white etc camps and fight each other to the death is exactly what the rich elite (our actual enemies) want to happen. I'd recommend Andrew Callaghan's film "Dear Kelly" for a first hand look at what this looks like in action; how an otherwise innocuous, well meaning citizen can be brainwashed by far right propaganda and how quickly they can lose touch with reality - as well as how they can be brought back from that brink.

People are nuanced and groupthink is holding us back as a species. Hold the grand old party to task, and put on blast all those who have been profiting off of the suffering of others and leading the destruction of society. But don't lower yourselves to their level and paint everyone on the other side of the fence the same shade, or miss the nuances of how these people are being manipulated, and by whom.

The manipulators are the problem. Not the manipulated.

Fr. It'd be a forgettable bit of marketing, a tech demo no one really cares about if they'd included it free. With the price tag it turns from that into an anti consumer insult, a slap to the face to anyone who thinks they're in this for any reason other than extracting as much money out of their consumers as they can get away with

I would be a lot more willing to accept the inflation argument if salaries at these companies were going up at inflation rates too.

Not unless you're an executive, that is...

Yep, that's intentional. They stopped prioritizing user experience and started prioritizing ad revenue instead a while ago

As someone who was raised by a narcissistic sociopath (and who was fucked up by it in countless ways), it's beyond terrifying seeing the same type of scumbag occupying the white house.

Yeah this is the kicker for me and for most others. It won't ever replace youtube until it can implement similar discoverability features and improve the onboarding process. Youtube is run by the shitlords, yes, but it's also a service that has no equal, literally has no peers. Until it does, it will remain uncontested and they'll be able to get away with whatever policy changes please them (and their dictator-in-chief. And their shareholders)

That'll put the fear god in them!

Did you mean "the fear of god" or are you polytheistic? Lol

Why is this comment getting downvoted, while Fingolfinz is getting upvoted in the same thread for saying the same thing..?

"1,000,000 men out of employment"

Certainly showing it's age there. You'd never see unemployment statistics announced that way today. Not even sure if this is because of how "men" used to be used to refer to people in a more general way, or because women didn't make up a significant portion of the workforce (or because they didn't care about that demographic...)

"Net loss of gold in exports" too... Usually we see GDP used for that kind of statistic now

Yeah that's what I was implying asking if they were polytheistic, like they were referring to the fear god lol

That figure it highly suspect at best. MAGA took actual vote stealing moves this election... Multiple ballot boxes in the area I live (a liberal leaning urban city center) had their contents burnt to dust right after votes had come in, and that's just one of many examples. Not to mention gerrymandering. Don't listen to the propaganda, the man who cried wolf about a stolen election committed the crime he pretended to be the victim of

Look, I'm pissed too, I want them tf out of power and I want them to face consequences for what they've done. But celebrating the death of every Republican is more than a little extreme. The top dogs / those responsible? Sure. But let's not go calling for the deaths of our countrymen - who are, tbh, blind fools who've been brainwashed by propaganda. That doesn't make them worthy of death. I'd recommend avoiding turning the heat straight to 100 unless you want to watch our country walk an even darker path in coming years. If you've convinced yourself that's the outcome you actually want - of civil war and all the other fucked up shit that tends to come with war - then you're your own type of blind fool.
