If it ain't broke don't fix it. Windows 10 isn't even close to end of support.

If enterprise users haven't moved over then individual users don't need to.

I will move over before support finishes but make no mistake that'll be because I'm forced to due to security reasons and not because I want to.

My windows 10 enterprise has been running flawlessly.

I always thought his channel was really dummed down. I watched a video or two and then noped out of it. Wasn't many if at all any tips from the so called tech tips site.

Oh and stating the obvious but he's 'sorry' because he got caught.

Singapore's success is partly due to the absence of minimum wages and also the use of migrant workers like Qatar. Take that away....

Eh what's to investigate? We all know the plane was deliberately bought down to remove specific people from existence. Even blind Freddy knows this.

Guess which of your competitors offer remote working and has a product that smokes you?

Haven't touched VMware for years Hyper-V does everything I need.

Now with Azure I don't even need to manage the virtualisation just use an arm template to spin something up in 2 secs. I know Azure compute uses something based off Hyper-V, haven't really used AWS, does Amazon use technology from VMware for their virtualisation?

That's half the answer I think the other half would be.

  1. Run at a decent frequency - minimum a train every 15 mins off-peak, every 10 if possible. Peak every 3-5 mins.

  2. Run expresses from first to last train, this is put to great effect in Sydney but prior infrastructure needs to be completed beforehand. E.g. main routes are minimum 4 tracks, some 6. Dedicated freight lines also help so they don't conflict with passenger services. What I like is that Cityrail isn't afraid to run an almost empty all stopper next to an almost empty express.

  3. New lines to be done with metro. They seem to be better than trains as they can run every 2 mins, compared to trains would be hard pressed to run every But the main point is that it is faster than even express trains, meaning you can have way more stops but still be competitive with time. Nothing tells me that I should drive than seeing trains fly past my station due to it being classified as a "small station"

  4. Suburban interchanges - not everyone wants to go to the city so it's important to provide interchanges in the suburbs. Sydney is terrible at this, for example there needs to be a Hurstville to Macquarie Park line. There is not so two of the most congested roads follow this path because there's no option but to drive.

  5. Station integration - connecting directly to places of interest like shopping centres. And over station developments. Density helps a lot too.

  6. Get rid of car centric suburbs - many stations depend on park and rides which decentives public transport use.

  7. Better integrated transport. For example trams, they have their use on street in the city where the stops are closer and it already duplicates a faster line, but once it is out it should be running on dedicated tracks so they don't need to stop at traffic lights. Similar to parts of L1 and soon Parramatta light rail in Sydney where it is completely segregated with other traffic.

Her mistake was to do it in a Muslim country. I have a Muslim friend you wouldn't even know if they didn't tell you.

Outdrinks everyone, sometimes eats pork but rarely. But that's because they only get pub food, according to him food just takes up space that can otherwise be occupied by beer/vodka/gin/burbon. Noone else I know Muslim or not goes to this extreme, it can't possibly be good for their liver.

He's at least smart enough not to do this in a Muslim country.

A better way is to change travel time from private time to company time with a cap so people don't abuse it.

E.g. Sydney maximum cap 2 hours each way, Canberra would be like 45 mins. To reduce discrimination for employers to discriminate by choosing closer people, every employer pays the maximum regardless of where the employee is located to the government and the government reimburses the staff, while pocketing the difference.

They are own goaling their economy with these counter productive pencil pusher jobs that provide zero or negative input to the economy.

Real estate crisis, reduction of jobs especially in the younger population, lack of investment from overseas because of zero covid for too long forcing companies to move supply chains and that's before picking a fight with everyone causing uncertainty which makes it less investable.

Cutting down the "private" sector which provided the majority of the jobs because that would threaten pooh bear.

It'll make China weaker in the long run, but the people in charge won't care, they'll be long dead before then. All the people in the top powers are all multi billionaires, even if they lost 95 percent of their wealth they would still live extremely comfortably.

As for the general populace, I like to use the Kim Jong Un anology - a fat man within a nation of skinny men. Not really of importance to the ruling elite.

It's not bundled is it? Functionality comes with the licence. For example our teams usage is dependant on our Office 365 E5 licencing, which costs money. Word comes bundled with office yet no complaints. Google spreadsheet comes bundled with google workspace.

It's also got native integrations with SharePoint, Azure, windows and anything Microsoft. And even then the functionality and user experience is alot better than the competitors. I hate WebEx with a passion.

China is all aggressive because they know it's now or never. Even before the bad news with their economy it was already a foregone conclusion beforehand.

Everyone knew their population would decline. Then their comparative advantage disappears. Their advantage is a shitload of people, even with a lower GDP per capita it's still significant as it's 4x the population as the next country (besides India, who are on an even lower GDP per capita right now)

Due to the sheer numbers they can use their internal market as political leverage. Disagree with them and no money for you.

There's a few skirmishes but I think Putin has made Xi think twice. Although I do believe China can sustain quite a bit of losses if they do go to war before their advantage of many people disappears.

Firstly they have excess males so theoretically even if they lose excess soldiers it wouldn't affect their birth rate as the issue is lack of women not men.

Might be a two eggs in one basket outlook for them, gain a bit of territory and rebalance their gender ratio.

We can only hope Putin's war has made Xi think twice whilst we bide our time whilst their population decreases.

China and Taiwan can be one country tomorrow. I've said it a hundred times.

All China has to do is cede full control to Taiwan. It will be governed by Taiwan but it will be one country.

Yes I know it's too hard politically and unrealistic. Because they don't really want unification they want control.

Wow I hope you're not doing your banking on that PC.

Looking at the CVE for windows 7 after January 2020 (end of support)

https://www.cvedetails.com/...

Doesn't look pretty. Many exploits to give attackers elevation of privileges (administrator to your PC), remote code execution etc.

These don't require you to download "dodgy" software. It happens because parts of the windows source code isn't coded to perfection (as with all software) and then the attackers exploit the code in a way not originally intended by Microsoft.

This risk is elevated when the operating system is out of support because different windows systems share the same code base, so when Microsoft releases security updates and CVE reports to the internet, attackers can read these and find out how to attack unpatched systems even if they did not know about the exploit beforehand.

So it's imperative to apply the patches in a timely manner usually within 24-48 hours after release.

On a side note windows 7 isn't out of support, Microsoft is still releasing patches for it along with XP. Many enterprises have to use these operating systems for compatibility with their software, they are getting the updates because they're paying Microsoft millions of dollars for them. So are you saying that other users of windows 7 are wasting their millions of dollars for "overrated" security updates?

Are you hosting it through a provider such as AWS or Azure? That might be why. I had no issues when setting it up on my own.

I have 2x ISPS and through that multiple raspberry pis. Set up docker, then you can set up multiple VPNs (e.g. OpenVPN which I used just before pandemic) so after 2017. It always worked but these days I would also esim it - they can't block roaming mobile due to the way roaming works and the travel Sim prices are quite competitive these days.

Tldr no issues hosting on personal internet rather than through a cloud provider.

Example ones I use, simple to set up via docker files.

We can all thank our lucky stars for that. Totalitarian regimes are usually corrupt, and talent is based on how much you pay rather than your actual talent. They usually do alot of own goals that benefit the leader and it's cronies rather than the population at large. And constant purges which again helps the upper echelons but causes the country to go backwards.

We can thank their corruption for their '3 day special operation' taking almost 2 years and counting now.

Similarly China now has a population and economic crisis of their own doing to please their leader. Disallowing tutoring causing alot of younger generations to lose their job and killing the tech industry jobs because of beef with jack ma. And the one child policy which was a large part of the population decline.

We're lucky that people can't speak up to their leader when they make mistakes. Imagine if these regimes were competent. We just need to look at Germany in WW2 to see how that can turn out.

I wouldn't go for less than 120 a day (commute cost + my per hour cost multiplied by the time spent travelling)
