Reminder that 80% of people don't read past the headline - most people will believe the lie even if they only see it here. News outlets know this, so the headline should be "Trump breaks the law and commits election fraud with false claims about payments to voters" or whatever.

It's annoying that Cloudflare is basically facilitating / enabling the proliferation of the "zero click" internet that a handful of the worlds richest people are so keen on... And while they are encouraging site owners to hold the door open for AI, Cloudflare continues to punish actual human website visitors with their "are you human" barriers to entry. It would be nice if some of the people running it actually valued the internet a little bit ffs.

The caveat at the bottom is telling. It strikes me that this incarcerated men knew they had to caveat the donation or it would get spent on SUV maintenance or something.

Maybe the bill will get an amendment. Maybe a 2nd amendment is required.

Weird - I was just browsing Lenovo store (hella expensive compared to a few years ago) and they are heavily pushing machines with Copilot+ - it's really offputting

The last couple of lines has me thinking this is satirical/sarcasm:

"...Following his embarrassing slip-up in February, Sutter vowed that he works “differently now” and is ready to immediately “distrust” anything an AI says" and "...when we pasted his latest piece for Nautilus into AI detecting tool Pangram — which is far from perfect — it informed us that 56 percent of the text appeared to be written by an AI".

One of the most pernicious cookies is the one that allows them to identify nearby devices. Even if you do not allow location specifically, consider exactly how much location data can be pieced together from that alone. It's impossible to overestimate the amount of data they have on you.

Richard Branson is on a big AstroTurf PR tabloid inch buying jaunt following several recent exposé on apparent similarities between Branson and Jeffrey Epstein. This might be why he keeps emerging from his nonsense island to do photoshoots and hunt virgins enemies (like Eurostar)

One of the three hit a fire hydrant and a tree before the battery ignited. The flaming prison cell on three wheels is not the expected behaviour following a minor road traffic accident either: "In this total nightmare scenario, the doors would not open, and the driver couldn’t break the Cybertruck’s “armored” windows from inside"

20 years after Jamies School dinners tried it (and caused "worried" parents to deliver sausage and chips through the school gates to their kids) its good to see a tiny improvement finally land. http://news.bbc.co.uk/...

I saw Eli Computer Guy on YT yesterday describing how "you don't allow the intern full access/permissions/privileges to delete the production database". Swap "AI" for "intern" in the marketing material and the real culprit is clear - it's the person who left the door open without any foresight or common sense. You can't blame the intern.

Genuinely what of the damage to our parents generation? They are susceptible to dangers and manipulation and other dangers on social media. If we all agree that social media is probably a bit shit - shit enough that we should protect children from its harm - then why should we not enact some protections for everyone else too?

Weird how the BBC is going soft on the Royal angle - it should be in the headline - they normally love to ram the Royal cock (and bull stories) right up our collective newspipe. "[Nicholas Brandram, 44] is a relative of European royalty - a direct descendant of Queen Victoria, his great grandfather was King Constantine I of Greece, his grandmother was Princess Katherine of Greece, and the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, was his father's godfather"

It's more simple than that - like doge, this will be an extraction of public money, and maybe the transfer of more data from government / publicly funded storage to Musk's CSAM generating facility.

True. Although I like how the headlines referring to the product as "pervert glasses" combined with headlines like this one leave little room for nuance. I hope the next logical step is for users to be forced to say "not all pervert glass wearers are sex offenders". Embarrassment, shame, and ridicule is a better enforcement tool than any government action or restriction.

I think magazines (like newspapers) are sale or return. If they sell, the distributer collects some $ from the retailer. If they don't sell, they have to come and take them back. It would be bad for business if people carried one around the store while they shopped, but changed their mind before they got to the checkout.

They are very common in the UK - flexible bollards are widespread here to prevent damage to vehicles after the inevitable collisions. Using them to separate cars from bike lanes is also common - and says the quiet part out loud: https://startsafety.uk/...
