@Tired8281 @StillPaisleyCat I dunno about that! The only reason the Borg plot wasn't a few-episode one-off was because 7/9 was providing some T&A the franchise...basically lacked entirely given it's sausage party crew and Neelix macking on Ocampas in a way that was totally weird and creepy.

@ValueSubtracted I feel like the writers were visibly struggling with being painted into a corner by some extent by TOS, which would have been progressive for the 60s but backwards by the 90s. With a side order of being stuck, depending on market, with following or competing on another channel against Baywatch (mostly reruns but still).

@startrekexplained @BobKerman3999 Doesn't seem that hard to me. It's entirely possible an entire room of writers would have considered existing apolitical and wanted to cast a gay couple as not even being remarkable, even back then.

I was also in the closet back then. Mostly because there's people out there who want to make existing political, and want me dead now because of it.

@cygnus I feel like nearly every time I hear someone called a gringo, it's meant pejoratively, and most of the time when it doesn't get the intended reaction from the person directed at, they're usually too ignorant to get that they're being insulted, which is usually a component to getting called out like that in the first place.

@ValueSubtracted As a former Scout, I really want to like this show. As someone who's watched too much cartoons, the "every line is yelled children's voices in high-gain microphones" and a straight up *fugly* animation style are massive put-offs.

@ValueSubtracted Nice to see things still come out on physical media.
