This is the inevitible result of nations wholly relying on mercenary groups to fight their wars. As major powers, not just Russia, continue to rely on privatized militaries these militaries are going to become emboldened and realize how much power they have over their capitalist financiers.
The other day I was literally listening to an old episode of The Deprogram where they talked about this. Surreal to see it actually happening now.
Basically, get offline. Every single conversation I've had about communism in person, I can at least get people to view communist history from a rational perspective less clouded by propaganda. Even if they don't "agree" they can at least respect it and can marinate on it later.
Online arguments with liberals are pointless. At least the arguments on lemmygrad are mostly good faith and even if there are disagreements there's a lot of learning that happens. Arguing on mainstream liberal forums just opens you to being brigades by bots, reactionaries, and people who are participating in bad faith to begin with.
TIL Xinjiang is on the East side of China
There is a lot of dogma from past socialist experiments. And while the successes of the USSR should be defended, many MLs get carried away with the defense and act as if Lenin and Stalin were omnipotent and their theories on organizing and revolution are able to be perfectly replicated anywhere. We must ultimately remember that the USSR had many failures, had material conditions and obstacles unique to them, and that Lenin -- while a brilliant analyst of imperialism -- was a human, not a god, and that he wrote from a particular insight with the intent of revolutionizing his particular society.
That's not to say past theory should be discarded. We gotta continue to study and be the messengers of this knowledge. And it's also not to say we have license to be eclectic and undisciplined in our takes and our praxis. But even though history is currently rhyming and all that, we live in a notably different world in terms of our technology, collective awareness, We need to forge NEW theory suited to OUR material conditions. Especially for us comrades in imperial core countries. Take our cue from the rest of the global south and ADAPT the theory. Stop treating it like dogma.
One example in my maybe-unpopular opinion, is that we can actually learn from current anarchist tactics of organizing rather than wholly dismissing them because they are anarchists. Yeah I know, a lot of them (as evidenced here recently) are annoying in their lack of proper geopolitical analysis and their idealism, but they're also leading the struggle in plenty of areas of resistance (Cop City in Atlanta). We shouldn't take that for granted and we can learn from them just as much as they should learn from us. In this day and age, with the unique opportunities and setbacks we are confronted with regarding online surveillance and social media, strong centralization of our movement might actually not be appropriate right now.
Liberals: "Nuh uh"
Nice try, fed
As far as the rich actors go, sure. But plenty of labor orgs have wealthier people at the top running them. Something like less than 5% of SAG-AFTRA members make a living acting. The studios are also trying to make it so that even the lowest paid actors (one-liners) are giving away rights to their "likeness" so they can be replaced by AI. That's predatory af.
The film industry is much more than A-list bourgeois actors. The acting industry is mostly composed of overworked wage earners who also are working at Starbucks, restaurants, temping, teaching, etc. just to get by. Under capitalism and in the Hollywood system it's mostly a petite-bourgeois trade (hence being a guild, not a union), but the strike still has the ability to raise some class consciousness.
Plus a major arm of the US propaganda machine being shut down for the foreseeable future is an objectively good thing.
Not only that, but it's "Chinese communism" that later fascists will run with. It's the West's new "Judeo-Bolshevism."
If that's the case, every Asian-American should seriously start considering what their escape plan will be.
Western media and politics has definitely reduced and obscured the overall class characteristic of fascism. People in the West seem to think fascism simply means "big government" and "hating Jews" because those were cornerstones of Nazi ideology. They're not taught that Nazism is just one historic manifestation of fascist ideology and that the greater ideological movement itself if opportunistic, disguised and flexible according to the particular place it arises from.
If they were taught about the material basis and goals of fascism they would have to reckon with the fact that their own countries histories were proto-fascist projects from their inception. If they were taught to recognize the signs, they would see that the same exact tactics, conspiracy theories, and rhetoric aimed against Jews in Nazi Germany have been used against Muslims in recent history (and continue to be so) and are currently being used against Chinese and other Asian groups as well. But because the way fascism and WWII in general is taught in the West, Westerners have an incoherent understanding of fascism.
Say what we will about West. But it's still gonna be fun to watch him confront these people with their own bullshit.

Y'all think Biden wears diapers?
Just gonna drop this, for the sake of all the new people coming to this instance
For anyone that wants an anti-imperialist commentary on the background and aftermath of the Korean War, read the book Patriots Traitors and Empires.
Just one of the nuggets in the book that you'll learn is that Kim Il-Sung was actually willing to entertain the idea of a unified Korea but with two political systems as long as the American military gtfo. Of course America obstructed that peace deal and many others.
The Korean people on both sides of the peninsula are more than capable of figuring out what reunification looks like without further Yankee meddling or Western concern trolling.
"Doublethink"
Orwell was a shitty socialist, but he was completely on point with the terms he coined to describe thought manipulation and the effects of propaganda.
Western press is already pulling the "it's complicated" angle
Welp. Better pick a wall.
Jk. Tons of famous communists were class traitors.
My word, it's maddening seeing people I know give "land acknowledgements" the day before and who now have "I stand with Israel" social media photos. Liberals only know bandwagoning.
Lost a ton of friends in March 2022 due to not bending the knee for Ukraine. Time for round 2 I guess.
It's amazing that liberals think this man is any less verbally unhinged than Trump in the ways that are meaningful and relevant to being a president of a country.
Honestly this just makes it funnier.
They were allowed to write anything and they wrote "I can't read this shit."
