Rule 4: get fucked by better and cheaper products (Unreal/Godot)
Rule 5: make an obituary presentation on what went wrong (hint: it's always management)

You always have to put it into perspective. The reaction when beehaw defederated from this instance was also not met with elation here but most just were dissapointed and I did not read any slurs or colored swearing insults.

Edit: I went over to see what the fuss is about. And the first thing I see is "tranny faggot" and justification for "joe biden is a pedo". Lmfao really? Nothing lost by defederating from that such a cesspool.

The instance at exploding-heads.com got defederated from by a lot of instances and among them the largest one lemmy.world
It happened due to them allowing hatespeech like "tranny faggot". Top post now is complaining about how the rest is sensitive libs and in the same breath call "Joe Biden is a pedo". They're throwing a tantrum about how they're getting cancelled because they can't smell the shit under their own shoe.

Google is also pretty much in crisis. Since the whole Reddit debacle their SEO infested spam results pages got even more exposed. Add to that, that everyone is trying to lock their page down because google is caching a shitton of content which nets the page owners exactly 0 clicks or they even have to pay google for their amp caching.

I really got a severe case of the Baader-Meinhof-complex. Like a month ago I heard of the demon core for the first time. And now it seems like I see it referenced everywhere. Atleast 10 times randomly in the past month.

Dogma is a really good movie with a Christian theme. Good Omens is a great series with Christian themes though it's more atheist in it's message than Dogma.

So let them I say. Managing 20+ accounts becomes exhausting as hell very quickly.

Still more progressive than Switzerland to this day. They have normalized 42.5h workweek. You need to work 8.5 hours to be considered a fulltime employee.

I replaced RIF with Jerboa. So far it seems to work great. Even the layout in the comments looks nice.

Lemmy as a whole will probably take it. Lemmy.world might have issues because it might melt down and the private instances with an approval process like beehaw will just ignore it since their manual application queue can't handle it.

Not always. Be careful. It got me banned from a few subreddits I thought were chill.

That is an organizational problem because my country next to it has all those things at just about every train stop (Switzerland).

It's actually voice technique for the most part. Traditional old microphones weren't as good at recording so actors were specially trained to speak and articulate well to get past the interference and background noise since filtering wasn't really done. As microphones and technological advances improved so did the microphones and the need for special articulation became less and less until somewhere in the 70s or 80s the culture in film shifted to normal voices to have better immersion between the audience and the movie scene. And it just went from there. Nowadays our microphones are so good that even whispered conversations in intimate scenes can be well recorded. So the actors basically just use their everyday voice or try to emulate a real accent which are often slurred.

You need to track the user for a poll. Sessions don't work since private browsing enables duplicate votes. Tracking the IP can block users from the same network/wifi. Cookies get auto-sent and browser storage is only clientside. Really not many more options aside from making an account on a site and logging in. I find it a pretty reasonable solution actually.

Ironic that Tate is a millenial. Also generations aren't like monolithic blocks of culture. The reason Tate is popular is because literally everyone is failing young disenfranchised men. Sure we get women as heroes now (good ones and very prominent bad ones ... ahem WW84)
The reason we get a backsliding is because (imo) we focus on elevating women too much. It is so so devastating for young men that just get nothing. No recognition, no support and no opportunities. Couple that with the fact that until men hit their mid to late 20s the dating power dynamic is asymmetricly shifted towards women. And you get hammered by the media "women support here, women support there" and if any young teen dares to ask "well what about us boys?" They just get shushed, that it's not their place, male privilege etc. They don't see that "privilege" everyone else speaks of. So you just get mounting aggression because no one is confirming their struggles. And eventually it ferments and turns to hate and then you can serve them whatever lies you want, if you give them the prospect of control over their life they will eat it up. And that's what Tate did. He promised them power and success.

Gopher is like very simple and cool. Something similar to Telnet but it's own thing. It's free nowadays btw but ofc nobody uses it.

Yeah well it's called web 2.0 so naturally we need a dot.com bubble 2.0, only it's just the data bubble and failure to monetize it or rather you can't just monetize social media data. Turns out that data is still not much use to advertisers no matter how manipulative and optimized their method is. Data is still data and not money. The only institutions really actually getting use out of that would be governments (look at China). VC are pulling out and advertisers are pulling out.
