Well that's rather concerning about the future rule of law, and the ability of the FBI to conduct investigations without political interference...

MC and VISA are the networks. They allow communication between banks, and the entire operation is packaged up by payment processors like Stripe, Square or PayPal. So you have processors, the banks on either end (perhaps two separate ones), the network operator, and additionally any extra companies that might offer additional services for the transaction, like for fraud prevention or financing.

Uh, recheck that. The park in front of my place is constantly busy with ppl playing sports in large groups, the gym in my building is packed at all hours, and personally I start every day running before showering. Don't think I've missed more than three or four days this year (and that was due to travel/flights). Routine/habits are powerful motivators, both in positive and negative directions. And fast food I dislike (and it's more expensive than comparable local options in my country like bar food or street food) so I don't think I've had fast food from a chain or similar since the pandemic.

I think part if the motivation here would be to allow the doctor present at a school to determine whether a child is participating in the correct sex-appropriate placement. Like using the correct locker rooms or bathrooms in case teachers or other students bring up an issue (for example if a boy were to go into a girl's locker room and claim to really be a girl). Since appearance doesn't line up with sex in many cases nowadays, the inspection would be to determine the real sex of the individual. Some school activities will involve nudity (changing before entering a swimming pool, communal showering after a sports match or gym class, etc.) so the authors of this were initially pushing for any teacher (such as the supervisor in a locker room or the teacher of the associated class) to be able to inspect/determine the sex of the individual.

Probably August or September is what a few people in the know have been guessing.

I mean, it's one of the few companies that shows it cares about its users genuinely, and basically always does what it 'correct' or 'just'. You have companies like Amazon that treat customers well, but sellers 'meh' and employees like shit. You have companies that do 'right' socially and environmentally, but have bad products. You have entities that contribute to public resources and open source projects, but who have no economic weight or who are arrogant. But with Steam you've got a very rare blend of 'good' characteristics in almost every category you can imagine. Competition is good and better than a monopoly, but if you don't have an area with competition I can't help but to wish the company you're stuck with ends up being like his. There's nothing inherently wrong with making money or being rich as long as you do so honestly without harming others or preventing others from having their own successes. The only way he has really prevented others' success is by having really solid products and policies.

It's better to just sell it and not replenish the stock than to dispose of it all at a massive loss. The US sellers won't get more money either way, but this way some losses can be avoided on the Canadian side.

An important point of the CLOUD is that subsidiaries are essentially also covered, unlike what happens with taxes/income.

While that's fine for a situation in which an European army existed, Orban would almost certainly veto such a proposal. In fact, he'd probably veto the EU spending a substantial amount together and call the EU warmongers. The solution is to have countries act independently on paper (with leadership coordinating) so that the EU doesn't have to get involved in such a way that vetoes can block progress. That's just the state of affairs at the moment.

Plenty of people I know have gotten the little echo dots or the bigger alternative with larger speakers for Christmas or birthdays. Technically they didn't spend money, but their friends and family did.

Not at all. He can knock himself out capturing and taking as many as he wishes. As long as they are removed from the environment they are wrecking, it's all the same if he pays to kill or relocate them. And obviously no one likes killing large mammals if there's an easy alternative.

Does it make a difference that the tea is never in the microwave? It's only the method for heating a single cup of water, not of heating the water+tea set.

For car journeys, Here WeGo is very good, and is actually the mapping system in a number of European cars. It was a Nokia property, but now it's owned by European and Japanese car companies. https://wego.here.com/ It can be used on the web or via the mobile app.

Lol. You're getting replies from people so complacent with their lifestyles that they can't fathom the effort of just walking away from everything and starting up elsewhere. Literally millions of people have walked across continents in the last decade to live in places with better opportunities, but these people'll find any excuse to say that that's not possible for whatever reason, but really just because it's a type of change they are unwilling (not unable) to make and they want to make themselves feel better by saying/believing all that isn't a real option for them.

You act like excommunication is only a slight matter. For someone who is not religious, being kicked out of a religion might not sound like a big deal, but compare it with citizenship/nationality. Crimes have punishments, so something like murder might involve decades in prison. In the Catholic Church, a priest who murders (or rapes or whatever) might be defrocked, or alternatively sentenced to spend the rest of their lives in prayer and solitude, but part of the essence of Christianity is the belief in forgiveness. Excommunication is more akin to stripping citizenship. The US (despite what some people currently im power might want) doesn't allow stripping citizenship from people who commit regular crimes, even serious ones like murder or rape. Imagine if every murderer or rapist in the US got their citizenship revoked and not only permanently lost all rights (from voting to housing) but could then be deported. Well, I'm sure the uproar that would be caused by even suggesting that. Well excommunication is like that. It is only permissible in certain very tight circumstances where something that fundamentally goes against the entire Church takes place knowingly and intentionally. It would be akin to something like high treason or whatever if I had to draw a comparison, which many countries do have an exception for the absoluteness of citizenship/nationality. There are few instances of excommunication that I can think of in this day and age, but a few would be breaking the seal of confession, breaking the secrecy of papal conclaves, attempting ordination outside of what of permissible while disobeying local bishops, and heretical schisms attempts I guess and all of these mostly for priests and bishops since they have a higher standard and pastoral/leadership responsibilities.

This seems to be a gross misunderstanding of public key cryptography. Public keys allow you to verify an existing signature is valid and made by the correct entity, but they absolutely don't allow you to forge a signature: that's actually what they are designed to prevent.

No, I definitely know of some people that go often only to be told that it's just a cold or similar and that they just need to rest a few days. Not most people, but a few do overuse regular consultations, so it does make sense to have some system in place to reduce that problem (nominal charges are a valid approach here).

You should though. Most ages would benefit even if only from a quick opportunity to ask about anything that might have come up plus the chance for some bloodwork to verify nothing obvious is abnormal. Prevention is way better than getting to a problem when it's already serious, and preventative checks can spot a lot of things (liver issues, some cancers, metabolic problems, etc.).

Neither. Tea bags are for chumps. It's so much tastier to use fresher loose tea leaves of whatever mix you prefer (and you can control how strong you make it, plus you end up with less waste). I just boil the water in the microwave then when it's hot I take it out and add the tea.
