This is interesting, I've thought of this before.

I write comments and commit messages in English, mainly because programming is collaborative. I am a member of a local association of young programmers, and in the community (discord, meetups) we speak Finnish, however all interactions on github are in English, so are function and variable names, as well as comments. If someone makes a PR and it's reviewed, it happens in English, even if both parties are native Finns.

Thank god for GDPR. We Europeans, according to GDPR article 22, have a right to object to automated decision making without having service denied.

Currently doing an internship at an establishment with 1300+ users using Microsoft authenticator (required by policy). The amount of times I've had this same issue is insane. Worst part is, when we provision someone with a new company phone, they have to go to the Google play store to download Microsoft authenticator. The play store however, requires a google login to download apps, but the users cannot log in to their company Google account without authenticator, creating a circular dependency. This unintentionally means every employee HAS to have a personal google account to set up their company google account... Stupid as hell.

When I played Barotrauma I always thought I had some mod on since I didn't know stowage was an actual word. I thought it was more like "stowage :3", you know, silly speech?

I was at a bar in Tampere (a city here in Finland) last week and met a guy with a phone running Sailfish OS. I've been interested in them for quite a few years so I asked him to let me see it and he did. Even though it was a 6+ year old phone it was running smooth as butter, the initial UX was awesome.

I really hope this becomes a reality and that the phone isn't just another cheap chinese touchscreen device. I am making the switch when the time comes.

Having worked as an admin for both systems, this absolutely sucks... The cost of running these servers is going to at least quadruple due to the new system requirements, and tens of thousands of USB sticks are going to become e-waste.

We used to run these servers on old laptops, but now with the new system requirements (which I won't disclose here, as I am not sure if they have been publically stated yet) the cost of running these servers is going to quadruple for most institutions, moreso for ones buying it as SaaS from OpinSys.

Not a fan AT ALL, but hey, at least I have 200 stickers advertising the new version 🙄

BankID is so ass, the one we have here in Finland is a bit better, but the one we have in Estonia is the best.

The Estonian one is by far the most comfortable to use of the three, with even a working and maintained Linux version. It is also tied to the PCKS#11 certificate stored in your ID card, instead of a corporate bank account.

The dealbreaker about plex for me was having to use their auth servers and having to route traffic through them.
