I’m all in on the Fediverse. It’s messy and a little confusing, but it has the best shot at making things better for all. Including corporations.
That’s something I noticed when I joined Mastodon as well. When people are in control for the sake of community and not profit, things tend to be better in this regard. Let crazies federate with crazies.

I’ve dabbled with Linux over the past 25 years. Last November, I built a high end gaming PC spec’d for Bazzite.
I haven’t touched Windows for gaming in over 4 months.
I think you just explained why I do this. I thought I had just developed an addiction to the news over the past six months, but this hit me.
My mind has already closed to Reddit. At first it was surprising how quickly I abandoned it, but it’s not really. The Internet is a fast moving place, with sudden trends and viral content being the norm rather than the exception. I like Lemmy so far and it serves the same purpose, perhaps with its own problems but with pros that outweigh the cons. No one person or company owns it. That’s progress.
