Disagree. It's just overused and poorly handled. If the story addresses the reasons why the child is neglected such as the father desperately trying to save his son or the future then it can make a good tragedy. Or, if the father was lost in his own work and probably shouldn't have had his child but that work consumed him then it can be fine as long as it's not framed as a good thing or that the child must forgive him for seemingly no reason.
The problem is media that screws this trope up and still expects you to forgive the father in the end. Oftentimes writers fail to address why the child couldn't just join as bonding, or the father is not doing something that important, or the father is just straight up a terrible person and then the writers expect you to turn around and forgive him.
Otherwise it's a great way to give the child character a prolific character to chase that they themselves don't know, or create a character torn between two worlds for better and for worse, or create a deadbeat dad character that may or may not be redeemable.
Maybe they're supposed to be moderated by devs/publishers, but I'd guess as high as 99% of steam communities are unmoderated or simply auto moderated for specific slurs. Basically every game I've ever looked at has just piles of threads asking "Is ThIs GaMe WoKe???" or "PLEASE ADD LGBTQ2IABBQ+ CHARACTERS!!!" as award farming shitposts. Heaven forbid its a competitive game because those forums get rancid. It also happens I'm the discussion of basically every news update for any game with a remotely active community.
There is zero or nearly zero accountability for the state of the community hub and Valve simply saying "devs should do it" is just passing the buck.
Scientists ruined the fun by finding the real truth: He died of asphyxiation. Then he got hit by the rock.
Honestly it goes deeper than that. I'm part of a very small streamer community and the two biggest points of exhaustion are actually just community management and the platforms themselves.
You can be having an absolute blast playing games, bullshitting with chat, whatever else, and then ONE person can come in and ruin the entire vibe. The two big ones are people "um, ackshually"ing a joke you make or someone deciding to trauma dump into a 10+ person conversation to fish for compliments. The amount of times one of the streamers is vibing, making jokes, chat is blowing up and someone comes in like" I hate myself I want to die please compliment me and make me feel better while you're live :'(" is insane. Just zero self awareness and you can't just ignore someone writing what sounds like the first half of a suicide note so suddenly you flip from entertainer to therapist. For larger streamers this comes in the form of random groups of people deciding they don't just hate you but actively want to sabotage you through stream sniping, harassment, doxxing, etc..
The platforms are just as bad. Having to constantly fear that any accident in a game gets you banned is just such a suffocating experience. This is worse in games with open mics where it's your responsibility to police, mute, whatever else the random outbursts of hate speech and slurs. Heaven forbid you're playing a game that suddenly surprises you with nudity or something else and you're left wondering if you're gonna get flagged by TOS because it arbitrarily wasn't artistic enough. Lord have mercy on your soul if you stream something from Nintendo - - who seemingly just rolls a die once a month to decide which random community built around their games they want to Thanos snap out of existence.

I'm a furry because I think anthropomorphic animals are neat. It's kind of just that simple. Participation as a furry to me is just a minimum of making an avatar (a fursona) and talking to or hanging out with other furries. Honestly, it's hardly different than modern VTuber obsession -- our community just happened to start with early western animation rather than more recent eastern animation.
Furry is a "lifestyle" and can be taken as far as you want it to take it. We are a community you can chill in, a hobby you can participate in as any kind of creative person from artist, to musician, to 3D modeling, to the person developing the extremely complicated sex stuff going on in VRChat, or a kink you can dress up and fuck in. You can either make everything yourself, buy your way in, or it's honestly totally normal to just hang around artists enough that they end up making things for you when they're bored -- although it's good manners to actually participate in that person's area of the community rather than begging for art.
Furry being more of a lifestyle than a hobby means it's very easy to just include it in your daily rituals. There are hundreds, if not over a thousand furries in the greater Seattle area. I can go to dinner with other furries, I participate in a furry Twitch community, I game online with furries, and I'm currently about to go on a camping trip out in the woods of Washington for an event called Furwood that takes place at an exclusively queer campsite called Triangle Recreation Camp with nearly a hundred people (though many are dropping out due to the expected rainy weather this weekend).
What furries are NOT is:
Tbh with the sheer scale of America I doubt even mass starvation will work. The government could probably just keep the states immediately around the capitol sated and leave the rest of the country to die and most people won't be able to afford travel to the capitol to riot. I bring this up in every thread but to travel from the west coast to Maryland to start a riot is the same distance as traveling from Ireland to Moscow to riot. And we have barely functional trains.
I can only assume someone was hospitalized and they absolutely needed to bring flowers at that exact moment.
On one hand you're right Liam's response was pure insult no answers, but on the other hand Conor's argument started from misinformation or in bad faith because Liam was there to support the launch of the flotilla not ride it.
I mean... it literally can. Only ~20 states have their own State Defense Force and the federal government can turn any state's national guard on its own people. The national guard has been actively leveraged to help ICE brutalize and disappear immigrants and American citizens already.
Also if we were to consume Gavin Newsom, for example, that does not help us get a functional federal government back.
I think something a lot of people miss is the actual scale of the US as a country. My state is pure blue. My local government is mostly tolerable although not as far left as I'd prefer. Rioting here accomplishes nothing because democrats aren't in control of the government so we're just trapped along for the ride.
For me to join a protest with a meaningful impact I would need to travel to Washington D.C.. For a west-coast American to actually protest at the capitol of America it would be a similar travel scale to an Irishman traveling to Moscow to protest the EU. That trip alone would cost me ~450 euros before fees and before the cost of any food/shelter. It would require that I leave my job if I stayed for more than a week and because I have no job I can't pay rent so I must surrender my belongings and uproot my family.
This just isn't achievable for the average person without your life already having entirely collapsed in the first place. The most any of us out here can realistically do is try to throw money and other forms of support at the problem and hope other states can get their shit together.
"It drives up the quality by a mile". That's the point, you idiot. It drives every single manga good and bad's quality the exact same mile up the exact same road.
We want unique, creative visuals brought on by human touch and error, not generic generative slop that all promises to be a D+ to C- quality story because you let the damn slopbot drive your creative process for you instead of actually engaging with your own work and skills.
OP sounds like some kind of Homer simp, or perhaps a Homer simp's son

The man then holds up all but one finger and asks "Am I holding up 10 fingers?" to which they respond "No", "Non", "No", "Nein".
As a "sheeple" i dont know how to tell you this but those are 6 distinct AI generated faces with completely different jawline, headshapes, wrinkles, etc.. I mean baa.
One other small addition that I didn't know where to fit is that, as a non-neurotypical gay man, wrapping my life around furries makes it more comfortable to unmask around people. People literally do not bat an eye if I want to gush about Fat Bear Week, or throw out a hear-me-out about that one undead werewolf monster that "kisses" the priest in Castlevania.
You're not doing anything wrong. I can guarantee you most furries I've ever met can name at most 1-2 of these people excluding Carpet Samples, who was a major meme like 15 years ago. The majority of furries simply are not plugged in to popufurs and furry drama.
Yep, was gonna play Marathon until they just never bothered with Linux. Made a dual boot to try the free weekend and it was actually kind of interesting but not enough so that I want to restart my whole PC to play every time.
Apparently the anti-cheat they're using has even developed a Linux version in the time since Destiny 2 came out but they still opted to be Windows only.
