Probably because most of us are sorting by top 6/12 hours since there isn't enough content to keep us entertained every couple of hours if we sort by top day, which will obviously improve as we grow.

I don't understand why they'd do another round of place at a time like this. Like wtf did they think would happen?

Let's face it. How many of us have actually contributed enough to any FOSS projects to demand for free and premium services. I personally would rather donate to a FOSS app instead of paying Sync, but it's unfair to judge Sync for having ads and trackers when the option of removing them is there. There's nothing wrong with any dev wanting to make a decent living or even more than that, as long as they don't go overboard and are honest about it.

This episode made me stop watching Black Mirror for good. It was way too disturbing and I'm someone who doesn't even flinch while watching horror.

Aussie here. They have the right to go through all your devices if they suspect you of smuggling or working or wanting to work illegally in Australia. They will read through all your private messages and have them translated if not in English. Even then I've never heard of airport security giving a rat's ass about pirated stuff.

I hate to see the content we created help fund the pockets of spez and his fellow crooks, but at the same time I'd also hate to see tonnes of possibly the most valuable information on the internet going down the drain. I'll be happier to see Lemmy get to the point where people can say "there's a community for everything" more than seeing the collapse of Reddit.

  • Universal access to healthcare, food, water, shelter, electricity, and education without cost.
  • Prohibit the operation of businesses or investments in basic necessities mentioned in previous point.
  • Non-essential amenities such as entertainment, fashion, travel, luxury goods etc continue to be available for purchase.
  • A reasonable tax structure that ensures higher taxes for the rich.

Is that Communism? Is that too much to ask for?

I'm in Lemmy.world but would like to chime in with my two cents too if you all don't mind. Just as one would approach a venomous creature—observing from a distance and acting accordingly after gathering enough data—it might be wise for instances to consider defederating from Threads right from the beginning, until further observations are made.

Regardless of how well they try to present it, we should remember that big corporations not only fail to act in our best interests but also view us as the product. Contrary to the spirit of federation, monopoly will always be their ultimate goal.

That's a good piece of advice. I went from being a carefree teenager to a highly "efficient" grown-up who's always asking how I can get more by doing less. I mean, that are obviously perks in setting goals and being time and money savvy, but in the process I've lost the child in me -- the child who wonders and has multiple hobbies. I couldn't even sit down to play a game without feeling like I was wasting my life away.

So yeah, like you say, fulfilling one's responsibilities is important, but don't go crazy chasing after the next shiny thing. It's perfectly fine to want to do nothing and just enjoy ourselves sometime.

This is my first post on Lemmy and I just want to say that I'm so happy to be here guys. Finally my dream of seeing a decentralized social media platform gaining unprecedented traction is coming true.

Just happened to me too while I was playing some game online. They think we millennials should be gardening instead of gaming. Bitch we are the pioneers of modern tech. We grew up drinking internet.

If you like it and are having fun, good for you. If you don't like it and would rather spend time on the bazillion other games out there, you won't be missing out much either.

At the end of the day, Starfield is just another Bethesda game. Same mould, same problems, same gameplay, with a slightly improved engine for overhauls which will be carried out by none other than free and enthusiastic modders.

Screaming at each other for liking or disliking a game is just what gamers always have been doing and will keep doing forever.

Impact is already more than evident through search results. Google has had to tweak their search functions because of this and Microsoft pulled out from Minecraft subreddit, and both made sure to announce to the world that it's because of spez and the protest.

Oh dear. This just unlocked some ancient memories. Never thought I'd ever be reminded of a half loaded image of Cindy Crawford ever again.

Optical illusion is most likely the reason instead of engine brake if your vehicle slows down significantly in certain areas and doesn't on other downhills with "similar" angle.

There is this slope near a waterfall around where I live. If you put your car in neutral gear at the bottom of the slope, it rolls "up" the hill. We named it magnetic hill back in high school, but I later found out that it is just an optical illusion that happens everywhere around the world. Basically some uphills look like downhills and vice versa. Google "gravity hill".

Binding of Isaac and Death Stranding. I just keep going back to these 2 even after I've 100% them.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing but I'm pretty sure it's because Sync allows it to happen. I've been using multiple Lemmy apps for months now, and I'm sure I'd have at least accidentally clicked on some links. However, none of the FOSS apps have ever shown up on DDG, not even once. To confirm this, I've just clicked on a whole bunch of ads and links (even the shady ones) on all the apps, including Reddit, all of which are only opened in embedded browsers. Apart from Sync and Reddit's tracking attempts going through the roof on DDG, none of the other apps even showed up.

Devs should, at the very least, have the power to implement privacy restrictions in embedded browsers and pick non-tracking advertisements, none of which Sync has been doing, as they have clearly said so in their Privacy Policy (credits to being honest, I guess?).

Can someone who has paid $20 for the ad-free version confirm that this stops happening (or not) once the ads are gone?
