Hooray, lot rent! And more mobile home parks are being bought by vulture capitalists, and they jack the rent up. Then the people who have been living there can't afford it. And they can't afford to move the house elsewhere. So they sell it (for nowhere near what it cost to buy) and have to find somewhere else to live.

It's super not cool.

Yeah. Experience is that thing that lets you recognize a mistake when you're about to make it again.

I don't know who does your "research", but every cat I've ever had was always in murder mode, no matter the facial expression.

That's why a normal person would brick them up inside a wall. Easier to exclude the dog.

I never even thought of that. But the last few years has taught me that if it's terrible, and it's physically possible to do, then it's probably happening.

I remember F150's and suburbans and excursions and other bug SUV's suddenly getting real cheap in 2008 when gas went crazy. There were Ford excursions three years old going for $5k-8k.

My wife and I started to figure out vegetable gardening back in 2018-ish, just for fun. We got interrupted by a flood and having to move in 2019, but we were getting good amounts of potatoes and squash in 2020. We got chickens in 2022, and Ww grew and gave away a few hundred pounds of potatoes in 2024.

In November 2024 I was casting about for some sort of something I could do to keep my family somewhat safe or at least unnoticed. I bought a few acres in a rural area. Maybe that was a bad idea. Maybe it was a good idea. Don't know yet.

We are up to 15 chickens now. We spent 2025 figuring out what we can and can't grow at the new place, and in 2026 our garden is coming along nicely. Hopefully by 2027 it will be even better.

I've been making friends with locals, and I've even been getting involved in the local town hall. I've noticed something interesting. Everyone under the age of about 75 in the area absolutely hates trump and the spinless weenies who are supporting him in the government. It's interesting because everyone online assumes every rural bumpkin must be a trumpette. That's not really the case. Trumpettes are much more common in suburban areas, at least local to me.

I don't have an art car like this banana, but I have an old weird Japanese 4x4 and... Yeah. You're kinda right. When you hit the brakes it doesn't always stop straight. There is considerable slack in the steering. It sways. It's slow. It gets surprisingly bad gas mileage. It has an auto-locker, so it clicks going around corners. It has solid axles at both ends, and leaf springs. At both ends. It has no airbags, and there is nothing in the door except the exterior sheet metal for protection. No airbags, no ABS, no traction control, no stability control, no rear camera, just a steering wheel more or less connected to the front wheels. It's dangerous to drive and it's objectively horrible to drive.

But it's so much fun. And it's completely unstoppable on a trail.

Yup I went back and forth of whether or not to keep my shares but it was only like three so I wasn't going to be a millionaire anyway.

I have heard from people who work with these self checkout systems that the subscription to the software costs about as much each month as a worker does. No idea if this is true but I use some expensive software myself and it seems plausible.

I bought some around 150 when the IPO first hit, I watched it jump to ~200, and then I got scared and sold it the following Monday around 190-ish. It's been holding around 185, but I'm just not sure what's going to happen with the stock.

Don't pay attention to me I'm just a guy on the Internet.
