And a union man, with a smoking hot wife. A war hero who then got assigned the safest job in the fleet before becoming the highest ranking NCO of an alien tech outpost. And don't forget those sexy Irish pipes.

We should all be so lucky to be Master Chief Miles O'Brien.

I feel like Lower Decks has the answer to these problems. Like at some point Starfleet had a meeting and was like "ok we really need a fleet of ships that just answer the boring shit"

Space squids fucking near DS7? Just California-class about it.

I jumped out of my seat, the drama build up of that last sector was vintage F1. New world record too: most career poles at a single GP, beat Senna and Schumacher.

You mean the literal dog whistle for racists? Because a large portion of pit owners are POC so they get to spew their hate without saying it out loud. Ever wonder why they get all bloodthirsty about killing those dogs? There ya go.

I was mauled by a German Shepard with shitty owners when I was a kid. They're literally trained for military and police work, yet where are the GSD hate groups? It's almost like the people who hate pits, are the same who bootlick LEO and have thin blue line stickers. It's almost like breeds don't matter, it's the training by the owners.

Even despite that experience, I don't hate GSD, I hate shit owners. Shit owners make shit dogs. It's either that or Patrick Stewart is secretly pulling the veil over all of us.

But it's not really the dog they hate... so yeah let's not have them here.

We abandoned using SanDisk after WD merged the G-DRIVE into them. This particular model we've seen like half a dozen fail over 6 months as well as 3 failures from their 22TB HDD Pro series which is what replaced G-DRIVE. Their quality has really plummeted.

I used to work at this specific department, VICE Studios. Sucks to see stuff like this, but I'm not really surprised. The whole core of the company has been gutted out, which is where all the cool shit they did came from. There's probably a lot more episodes and pilots like these sitting in a drawer sadly.

I work in doc filmmaking professionally and we sometimes site Lemmings when we question the moral accuracy of something we're working on aka "don't pull a Lemming". It's a famous example of what not to do for us.

Sidenote this game was huge in my childhood we used to play it on my dad's work computer haha.

Really would be cool to stop seeing this shit all over the front page. Pretty sure a lot of us are here because we don't care about these sites.

Small note I LOVE that they're extending the "not all Orions are pirates" theme!!! LD did such a great job demystifying a race of people with Ensign Tendi and it only makes sense that their people have always been more than just a stereotype even during the TOS era. Was cool to see Boimler help change that perception with the Enterprise crew and confirmed when the Orion science captain saying "that's all we wanted" about being seen as explorers just like Star Fleet!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Sisko wasn't a perfect Star Fleet commander but he was the perfect Star Fleet commander for a frontier outpost like DS9. Any regulations and by the Academy officer would've been eaten alive by DS9, the station needed someone with the power of The Federation behind them while able to turn their back on certain necessary evils.

Also get his hands dirty too. It needed a Star Fleet officer who wasn't afraid to flip the switch during The Dominion Wars and utilize the military side of the peace force. It only cost him his humanity, but he sacrificed it to be the officer that would unleash human's capacity for savagery upon The Dominion, knowing it was the only way to defeat them.

It reminds me a bit of Murtry from Cibola Burns of The Expanse series, "We fly out here to this new place, and because we're civilized, we think civilization comes with us. It doesn't. We build it. And while we build it, a whole lot of people die. You think the American West came with railroads and post offices and jails? Those things were built, and at the cost of thousands of lives. They were built on the corpses of everyone who was there before the Spanish came. You don't get one without the other. And it's people like me who do it. People like you come later. All of this? This is because you showed up too early. Come back after I've built a post office and we'll talk." Murtry was a murdering psychopath but he wasn't entirely wrong either. The Federation is just another form of manifest destiny but at a grand scale. But instead of using muskets and murder, The Federation uses something much more insidious: politics. Sisko is charged with bringing The Federation's values and system of governance to the final frontier, and like most changing of the guard, it will cost bodies. Sisko is like Star Fleet's Murtry, someone like Picard is like Holden who comes later after we built a post office.

Anthony Bourdain: open the walk-in and you'll see the line cook who's about to handle your rokeg blood pie doing lines of spice off the Andorian fryguy's stiff blue dick "as a joke". Still you can't find a better crew outside of Qo'noS, just don't go in the kitchen.
