It’s like turning off your radio so you can read the map better.
Gotta go big screen for big purchases.
@lemmy.world
This is so exciting. The last time there was a major volcanic eruption in Europe, it shut down air travel for ages over there. Plus there was a cool and totally improbable scene in Walter Mitty about it.
What I find particularly interesting is that the Confederacy only existed for 4 years, meaning to run around with an Obama flag would more historically relevant than this shit.
“Historically relevant” or “historically significant” is really tricky thing to judge sometimes. While Obama’s 2 terms as president meant he was in charge for 8 years vs the Confederacy’s 4, I believe the Confederacy and the US Civil War they caused was more historically relevant than Obama’s 8 years as president.
There’s a whole lot of nasty from the war and immediate fall out we’re seeing feeling today.
Seriously though. Why are some people so okay with being trampled on by the rich, but if the government wants to give you healthcare they’re somehow the devil?
Many people, especially libertarians, imagine a government to be a highly corruptible monolith; they also imagine these companies to be dynamic and ever changing.
Thus a government will always be corrupt and always try to push you down; Coca-Cola might be corrupt for now but will grow out of it as soon as we get new blood in leadership roles. Heck, I might even be the one to do it. Get in on the ground floor, put in a little time and elbow grease, you never know.
It’s obviously not a position based in reality or historic precedent.
I’m from lemmy.world. What is this bot you’re talking about? I haven’t had the misfortune of running into it. What makes it spam?
Edit: Thanks everyone for your helpful answers! Based on the responses below, I believe you should definitely defederate.
If you have controversial opinions just post them on controversial subs as well. A large part of "the right things" depends on the "right community"
That is entirely correct.
I mean, it’s honestly not that different from the party swap in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Political parties aren’t some sacred temple of worship. They have a long and dirty history of being created, ignored, absorbed, and realigned.
requiring basic levels of karma most certainly is. You have to say the right things first to get the group approval before you can contribute.
Again, I disagree. You can say the “right things,” certainly, or you can say “neutral things.” Really anything short of overt hostility would be acceptable.
thanks for using Leebra!
