When I pick up my spouse from work in the mornings, I go a little early and relax in the parking lot with a book, reading through it, having my MP3 player for classical music. I've read through six novels this year, though small ones (only between 300 to 400 pages).

I play three D&D campaigns, two as a DM one as a player, which help be self-care for me. Same with playing games on my handheld emulator, and tending to my V-Pets.

And my big one is my various plants I tend to. I have the flowers and herbs in the kitchen (zinnias, marigolds, gardenias, basil, and chives), while in my office I have pintos, peppers, onions, lettuce, celery, and a few houseplants growing. Outside I have my potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, and squash as it is summer, when it turns to winter I'll change to garlic under hay in the beds and large pots, while the cold-frame beds I have will grow lettuce and carrots.

I won't lie, my thought is, can't we just have both?

There has been research into the benefits of solar panels over farmland, and also are benefits of solar panels over parking lots.

Call me an insane idealist, I would love the idea of implementing over both.

Sadly I lack an account for the Atlantic, but I am going to assume that they were bought out.

The car's driver AI is becoming more human-like in running down cyclists, that is just concerning.

I appreciate that I can tell this was a joke, but I do not appreciate how I am now coughing from how much I was laughing.

This is an interesting discussion point to look at, because for some people they seem to not understand that others, such as myself, genuinely love having many different styles and colors to choose from, as a way of self-expression.

I have clothing that is five to six years old, and also have clothing that is only a year or two, I will not deny. The clothes I had to get rid of where due to how much my body changed in the past five to six years, where I gave them to my local segunda where they give them or sell them for cheap. I got my use out of them. I even have a few outfits I've only worn so far once, because I've only had the one time so far, but when occasions arise I'll wear them again.

This is something I have thought a lot about, if you look at my username you could guess why, lol.

A restorative model is a fundamental component of a solarpunk society I would feel, where the work is done to attempt to assist people in helping themselves to work through their mental health disorders as a whole. It would be recognizing where the individual is, recognizing their level of ambivalence towards treatment and then working with them over time. Perhaps a secluded land that is self-sustaining, where they can get therapy and support as they find a space for themselves away from triggers? That is one thought I've seen people discuss before. I feel it would depend on the individual there though, as a solarpunk society I imagine would not do a 5150 or other forms of Involuntary Commitment.

The issue is stigma, as has been for so long. It is so easy for people to be given the label of a schizophrenic, a psychopath, a narcissist, so forth, without there being actual understanding that the person is still an individual who is struggling.

Sadly sets a precedent, even if they are putting their AI features behind the paywall.

That being said, the daily reminder that Notepad ++ and LibreOffice are better anyways, and if you want to get Linux most versions have Gedit at the beginning.

For me I admit not as much as I'd like.

I was unable to get solar panels for my house, due to the city's rulings. My house being a dome lacks a traditional roof for solar panels, and the city has a lot of strict rulings against solar panels not on roofs, mostly because the city council hates solar energy. Of course, I have small solar panels with power stations in the yard.

The house also is specifically one that is efficient for such purposes, and we practice dressing it up during the year. Currently we have blackout curtains over the windows that get hotter during the day-time barring the south-facing in my office, where I simply close that door. We also have curtains over hallways. While we have to use a rolling air conditioner due to the house's setup, we focus on only cooling the room that we are in or sleep in during the day-time, and during the night even if it is still 70s to 80s outside, we do what we can do to cool the rest of the house.

I have my own garden I grow vegetables and herbs in, as well as having an indoor garden in a south-facing window with a trellis shelf I built. I am able to grow plants year round. I pickle, dehydrate, and similar methods for everything I grow for the purposes of usage throughout the year, including using the brine from pickling for recipes. Also we make stuff during the night-time and put it to cool, making it able to be eaten several meals instead of every meal-time turning on a stove and cooking.

My spouse and I both have knowledge on repair, both around the house but also clothing, adding our own bits of charm when needed. I also have experience with repairing my bicycle as well as repairing my car, having been a mechanic in the past.

I remember during the "eternity" in between Gen 3 and 4 sprite-work had started becoming popular as had tilemap-work, with the common words being decolors and recolors, decolors being taking the newer sprites and remaking them for an older style, while the recolors was the opposite direction. I remember on TRSrockin, Lugia's Den, and Mewthree's Domain learning tutorials on this, and even having contests for it.

Fast forward to 2006 and people were making romhacks of Johto in Firered and Ruby, but also trying to make Hoenn in Gold, and some even so far as to try making Johto in Red. It was not perfect, but it was enjoyable. I even got into the fun of it too, having a lot of fun making romhacks. One such I remember distinctly involved a Tyranitar on the main screen, and was based in Gen 2, and was honestly phenomenal to play.

Needless to say, the difference I found in my life between the games officially made, and the fangames was that the fangames were not limited by policies of the company, and were only limited by the technology, and the passion of the creator or sometimes creators. Today we live in a modern world, with such projects as Pokemon Red KEP truly exemplifying that spirit with the limitless power of the decomp projects and community.

I will be honest, I partially want to wait to see how it goes for others first, and then make my own purchase to see how it works for me.

Thank you for actually mentioning the existence of warmlines. They are not commonly mentioned for people. There are also specific resources and call lines for an individual depending on their history, such as for those who require ASL or those who are trans.

Fully agree with this, having known both parents who homeschooled their children, and the children who were homeschooled. To put it bluntly, I have seen the trauma that many of the children have in how they are controlled and the emotional abuse that their homeschooling did to them because it was their parents controlling every aspect of their life. Now, with the parents, I also shall say the harsh fact that the majority of the parents I know that want to homeschool are the types who want to decide for themselves what their "little genius" will become, creating an entitled image of what they will make their children become, and will not permit anything that isn't their image. The child is not allowed to actually develop.

And I'll say that as a parent.

You put it best. Many want the cottage/cabin in the woods for the vacation space to post pictures on their instagram or such. There is little allure to the true nature of the lifestyle, the simple cruelty of it. The aesthetic is not the lifestyle, and I wish people would understand that.

Something that I like to focus on with the idea of a solarpunk kitchen is the practice of cooking outside during the summer times. To keep from needing to put more effort into cooling the house afterward, using a solar cooker outside, or an electric stove outside.

I stand by what I was taught by my grandfather and my father.

Only you'll care if it is off, but if someone comes to the house and says it is wrong, hand them a saw and say get to work.
