The Republicans have been playing by the nazi playbook for a long time now.

Nazis didn't start with the Jews. They knew they couldn't get away with rounding up an entire ethnic group. They started with the LGBTQ community. They dehumanized lgbtq people in the eyes of the public and made it seem like they were doing it for the good of a pure and powerful Germany. When that worked they realized how easy it was to dehumanize an entire population in the eyes of the public and used the same tactics against Jews, Roma etc.

When you think about it the lgbtq community is the first line of defence protecting democracy because they are the most vulnerable and easiest to demonize. Once it's ok to eradicate one group of people it becomes so much easier to do the same to larger groups.

It won't stop at lgbtq people, they will keep eradicating every minority until they're actually stopped by force. So far they've gone after trans people, gay marriage, women's reproductive rights and have even talked about overturning Loving vs Virginia. Their goal is a straight, white, "Christian" male utopia.

I hate him so much. Way before the Gaza war. He's an alt right tyrant regardless of his religion.

As an almost 50 year old gen x who is on disability I will never bad mouth the younger generations for having a hard time financially. I am right there with you. I'll never own my own home, the only reason I can afford my rent is because I've been in the same apartment for 10 years. I'm paying less for a 2 bedroom apartment than it costs to rent a single room these days. I'm going to have to live here until I die because I'll never be able to afford to move.

Groceries have skyrocketed just since covid and they weren't cheap to begin with either. Even before covid I was paying more for a week's worth of groceries than I was for a months worth of groceries in the 90s.

Times aren't just tough, they're fucking impossible.

I fucking hate all meta platforms now. I've been on Facebook since the day it went public (allowing anyone to join instead of just college students) and it's just a nazi recruitment platform now. There is not accountability for bad behaviour, in fact they reward trolls and punish people for dairing to defend themselves.

If I'm harrassed it doesn't go against community standards but if I defend myself I get banned for 30 days for bullying.

It's fucked up and it's deliberate. I've actually gotten a ban for two emojis 🐓🍭 got me a ban but bigotry and hate speech are a ok. Ironically even Jewish people aren't safe on meta platforms. Antisemitic behaviour is rampant, even way before the Gaza war so its not people who give a shit about Palestine.

I as a Canadian just don't get the appeal. He's not handsome by any stretch so there's no ascetic attraction.

He's not nearly as wealthy as he claims he is so it can't be admiration for his success.

He's got zero charisma so it can't be his charm.

He's as dumb as a pile of rocks so it can't be they admire his intelligence.

He's got the athletic prowess of a half dead goldfish and the skin tone of one so it can't be his physical ability.

I knew in 1978 that I was the wrong gender even though I didn't know what being trans was.

I come from a conservative CATHOLIC British/Irish family living in small town Canada. Went to catholic school and everything. Needless to say I got ZERO help.

The first time I tried to kill myself I was 9. It wasn't until 2020 and covid that I actually sat down and realized I need to do something because if I die of covid (autoimmune disorders) I will die never being happy and I WANT to be happy.

Unfortunately my realizations came at the same time americans decided to go full nazi and all I get when reaching out to trans communities is those communities being bombarded with attacks from american nazis.

I wish I could have transitioned when I was a kid, it would have saved me from 40+ years of pain and suffering. Ironically before I can take the steps medically to feel better I actually have to repair the damage caused by 30 years of anti depressants and anti psychotics used as a Band-Aid trying to fix my mental health without dealing with the root issue which is gender dysphoria likely caused by being neurodivergent (which was something that wasn't discovered until a few years ago).

Children shouldn't have to suffer the way we older generations had to suffer. The brain cannot be reprogrammed, it's hardwired, someone who is trans can't stop being trans any more than someone can stop being autistic or having adhd.

I was so disappointed as a Canadian to see Gore lose. That stolen election was stolen from all of us not just America.

Imagine how different the entire world would be now if Bush/Chaney had never happened.

I had been on reddit since 2008, I was looking for an alternative to the message boards I belonged to after the popularity of Facebook killed them off. I really enjoyed it, not the same level of community that you find in a message board but still good for conversation.

Then trump happened and it turned to shit. It's so fucking toxic and I ended up getting banned for defending myself. Apparently fascism is good and standing up for yourself goes against community standards.

I'm a disabled 49 year old just looking for conversation. Facebook is also a toxic wasteland now. To say I miss myspace is an understatement but there's hardly anyone there anymore.

I'm happy whenever I find a place that's put the social back into social media because antisocial media is just trash.
