Third for wefwef, gotta embrace good web apps when you see them.

I've only owned a System76 laptop and they are alright. Framework would be my next choice for sure.

Think you're in the wrong sub for this as recording is done on the application layer of each device unless we are talking about self hosted PBX systems that enforce recording. You looking for an Android or iOS app to do this on your mobile providers phone number or something else?

I'm a spectator in the space since Purism Librem 5 was first announced to the public. I bought one years ago and received it recently. I didn't even open the box and sold it as soon as I got it. It is not progressing well and is only viable if you are a cellphone minimalist or you like to dev for it.

Life changes which can change how much you might rely on certain technologies which was the case for me.

I've been so happy with GrapheneOS and that's sufficient enough for me regarding privacy and security.

All Linux phones will never see the spotlight until they impelment battery efficient Android sandboxing on said Linux phones. Only then can enough people be using it casually for devs to notice and develop natively compatible applications. I would wait until that day is tangible.

Everyone here is correct that what your thinking wont work and let me clarify why. When you torrent something the IP address used to download content is shared with everyone in the pool. You get caught when companies or 3rd parties trying to enforce copyright are in that pool and record every IP. So however you download the content, the front facing IP needs to be with an ISP that doesn't give a fuck about copyright, usually another jurisdiction with lacks copyright infringement laws. If you host a VPN at your house your still using the same ISP which will still bring either a letter or shutdown of service.

I pay for the only streaming related site worth it's money and that's Real Debrid (or any of the equivalent alternatives). Stremio + Torrentio Addon to friends and family even if they don't know shit about technology cause it's so damn easy and fast.

Hey don't let this scare you away from GrapheneOS as Louis states he doesn't know how this works and cannot trust the code.

You cannot be specifically targeted as a user of GrapheneOS with backdoors from the project. The entire user base would need to be targeted and this project has to many eyes on it to not be noticed by now.

If your ISP doesn't care then you are good.

I doubt your using NixOS so this config might seem useless but at its core it is a simple systemd timer service and bash scripting.

To convert this to another OS you will use cron to call the script at the time you want. Copy the part between script="" and then change out variables like the location of where docker-compose is stored since its different on NixOS.

Let me explain the script. We start out by defining the backupDate variable, this will be the name of the zip file. As of now that variable would be 2023-07-12. We then go to each folder with a docker-compose.yml file and take it down. You could also replace down with stop if you don't plan on updating each night like I do. I use rclone to connect to Dropbox but rclone supports many providers so check it out and see if it has the one you need. Lastly I use rclone to connect to my Dropbox and delete anything older than 7 days in the backup folder. If you end up going my route and get stuck let me know and I can help out. Good luck.

systemd = {
      timers.docker-backup = {
        wantedBy = [ "timers.target" ];
        partOf = [ "docker-backup.service" ];
        timerConfig.OnCalendar= "*-*-* 3:30:00";
      };
      services.docker-backup = {
        serviceConfig.Type = "oneshot";
        serviceConfig.User = "root";
        script = ''
        backupDate=$(date  +'%F')
        cd /docker/apps/rss
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose down

        cd /docker/apps/paaster
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose down

        cd /docker/no-backup-apps/nextcloud
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose down

        cd /docker/apps/nginx-proxy-manager
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose down

        cd /docker/backups/
        ${pkgs.zip}/bin/zip -r server-backup-$backupDate.zip /docker/apps

        cd /docker/apps/nginx-proxy-manager
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose pull
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose up -d

        cd /docker/apps/paaster
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose pull
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose up -d

        cd /docker/apps/rss
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose pull
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose up -d

        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose pull
        ${pkgs.docker-compose}/bin/docker-compose up -d

        cd /docker/backups/
        ${pkgs.rclone}/bin/rclone copy server-backup-$backupDate.zip Dropbox:Server-Backup/
        rm server-backup-$backupDate.zip
        ${pkgs.rclone}/bin/rclone delete --min-age 7d Dropbox:Server-Backup/
        '';
      };
    };

That's why I stick with RealDebrid because it's pricing is competitive and they are the biggest. More people caching content for me which means it's faster than if it wasn't.

Rooting is more security compromising than it's worth. There are a small set of use cases I could see but for the most part do either or below.

If you have a Pixel you would want to run GrapheneOS for maximum security and privacy.

All other phones you would ADB remove bloatware, run PrivateDNS with NextDNS or an alternative, and turn off as much analytics/permission/features as possible for a functional phone.

Backing up NixOS is very straight forward and easy. It's kinda the same as docker-compose in that respect.

Doing so gives you a unique IP so you lose out on a lot of privacy.

I've setup Stremio with Real Debrid and the Torrentio Addon for a lot of people and it all just works. SmartTube for YouTube replacement is also a goto.

I usually use a Chromecast but any Android TV will work. For a lot more work than it's worth but I still do it is remapping the Chromecast remote buttons to open SmartTube when hitting the YouTube button and Stremio when hitting Netflix.

I found FMSnap on https://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=1336&t=5277281

Your not going to find third party clients like the way Infinity is implemented, instead your only option is modded clients. This doesn't have anything that improves your privacy from Snapchat itself unless you are talking about the spoof location but you could just not give Snapchat your location in the first place. Never used it, but Mobilism and Rockmods are trusted in the piracy community so its worth a shot if it fits your needs.

Well Mullvad can only offer that because they require you to be on their VPN. How would Kagi enforce their payment plan without an account?

No offense but I'm seriously stumped on what makes OneNote good? I have to use OneNote for work and I shift through the Windows Office LTSC 2021 version of it, the web app on various browsers, and the android app. They all suck, getting the app to force sync takes to many steps and I'm having to do it frequently, the lack of code snippet support, the weird text boxes you drop everywhere if your not clicking inside the box, keyboard shortcuts are very lacking. Am I using it wrong or something? What makes it a good note taking app for you?
