The difference is awesome! I found another one in the same vein, by an unnamed Pilot on Water Rapids: https://slingshotspeeders.com/r/77f6q5t5

Turns out, you can make the first turn with much less delta-V if you just go down the entire course and back haha. This time I'll add some photos:

Least delta-V:

Fastest time:

I have it stuck in my head now hahah

Yeah I’m kinda with an abusive girlfriend but when I talk about the vile shit she’s done people always say that she’s living rent free in my head. Am I wrong to be thinking about how much she’s fucking me over? Should I just ignore it? We’re still together.

Don’t forget the value of actually knowing your codebase if you wrote it… or the value lost if you just have an LLM do the whole thing.

If you use something like four bytes instead of one, your error drops dramatically... If you're generating numbers from 0-100, You'd have ~50 "bad" cases (just imagine the remainder is the same) out of 4 billion instead of ~50 out of 256. Unless you're running a casino or something (and even then...) it's probably "fine enough" but of course you have to know about it!

I think you’re coming from the right place but I was trying to make a metaphor there. I do appreciate the sentiment. And if you caught it… I really really do wish I had the guts to leave but it seems we’re gonna be together for a while yet… not exactly the ideal situation for a bad relationship

You can, as of this very moment, download a 16 GB LLM and run it on your local computer. Or any bigger version, if you happen to have a beefy computer. LLMs are software. Good luck banning software. This is the internet.

ALSO, even if you do happen to be able to ban AI training facilities and such in the U.S., and those models become outdated, you can even go download some Chinese models too! They are not going away.

Congrats on hitting MVP stage, happy to support the game in a small way! And don't worry, I'll keep dropping feedback, bug reports and arguing score as long as I'm playing, thanks for having an open ear for it. Speaking of...

Ran into something... I don't know what happened, but I swear I've beaten Trefoil before on v0.1.9 at least, but I'm off the leaderboard now. It also happened with my run on my own community map Daytona mid-v0.1.9 (I think, but can't be sure...). Unless it was something manual it might be something to look into?

Also, it still seems to be impossible for me to finish "Trio" and "Planet and Moon"

Cross products! If you take the cross product of two edges of a face, you get a perpendicular vector for that face. It shouldn’t be too bad to do 20 of those per frame to find if a face is level with the ground (cross product points straight up and/or down depending on how you’re doing them)… now I don’t know about the velocity/acceleration numbers (including rotation)…

Hey hey, I ran into another bug, on some maps sometimes there is no "next goal," so I get stuck waiting when I should have won, here's an run which I quit that shows this: https://slingshotspeeders.com/r/z9t8lqr0

Mapmake doesn't crash for me anymore though!

Also, the leaderboard for water rapids is interesting...

I went faster with less delta-V, but scored less! Rigged!

I kinda made it as a test to see actually whether accelerating and braking is more efficient, because it's a much longer map... I wonder if there is anything that scores higher than just setting up the right orbit and letting it go

(because if not, it's a terrible map!)

I've been fiddling with mapmake (will probably publish something soon!), and I'm trying to figure out myself what makes a good map for that kind of technical stuff, it's not necessarily easy...

I made a community map called Daytona, and it's supposed to be 3 laps but you have to go through the 1st checkpoint 4 times to win, so is the "start line" supposed to be checkpoint 1? Not sure if it's an issue or not https://slingshotspeeders.com/r/tdr4p2s5

I initially tried to use larger masses to speed it up, but with the faster speeds it took too long and too much fuel to do the adjustments... I'll keep tinkering!
