Also infuriating is when the OP gets told by a mod to stop posting AI slop comments and OP responds:
I'm explaining the project in as detailed and clear a manner as possible - using the LLM to do it. The same one that helped me build it. Shut it down then man, why warn me?
For security disable password authentication - use public key instead, disable root login via ssh - use sudo or su from another user.
To reduce the number of attempts of others trying to get in change the ssh port and/or set-up fail2ban.
You could also set a firewall rule to only allow ssh from your IP address, if you have a static address at home and only need access from there, or have a way to VPN into your home network. Make sure you have a static address if you do this though, you don't want your IP to change and be left locked out of your server.
- Calling for the dissolution of Israel, or calling for a one-state solution without specifying equal rights for all people; Jewish in particular.
All people are equal, but some are more equal than others
You can't even set a timer with Gemini without enabling Gemini app activity (you used to be able to before, but that changed many months ago). This means it can't even replicate the basic functionality of assistant out of the box, without agreeing to give Google even more rights to your data, in no way would I consider it a replacement unless it's able to fulfil the basic functionality of assistant with the same permissions.
The person using it has previously claimed in a comment that they do it in an attempt to poison AI, up to you if you want to believe them, but that's what they've previously stated. Personally I find it annoying to read and tend to skip their comments.
GPUs that are banned from export to China can be easily acquired in low numbers in the country due to individuals bringing in banned GPUs which get sold just like unbanned GPUs after passing through several people. Also possible that some banned cards are repaired QC failures from the Chinese factories that produce these cards (the cards are produced in China, but are supposed to be exported and banned from export back into China). The export restrictions present more of a barrier for building out large AI clusters with many, many GPUs.
Nvidia almost certainly knows about this but turns a blind eye because they want to sell more cards and China is a large market.
There are some repair shops in China that can not only repair the GPUs, but can also transfer the GPU die onto an aftermarket PCB and give it double the amount of VRAM to create a card that Nvidia doesn't even sell.
Individual banned GPUs are easier to get than the full systems that Nvidia also sells. AMD GPUs are much less popular, Intel GPUs are basically non-existent. The overall most popular card for smuggling into China seems to be the RTX 4090.
They've always designed around ensuring good Linux support with their component choices and support of fwupd, but their marketing focused on being repairable and upgradable, unlike companies like System76, who explicitly sell their laptops as Linux laptops. It seems they've recently started advertising their Linux support more, possibly due to their partnership to have Ubuntu pre-installed, possibly due to seeing just how many Linux users they already had or possibly due to the number of people switching from Windows to Linux.
Yeah, I search the AUR not to discover packages, but to see if something I want to install is in there, if it is I check the PKGBUILD and make sure none of the sources/commands/patches are suspicious.
People need to remember it's not some carefully vetted app store and that they need to be the ones vetting any packages they install and any changes when updating.
Not really, BLM was started to highlight issues of racism, discrimination, inequality etc. faced by black people.
I would not have had an issue if the mod had said equal rights for all people, including Jewish people. It's the fact that they say equal rights for all, but "in particular" one specific group that I take issue with, doesn't matter if that group is Jews, Christians, white people, black people, etc.
I understand dropping support because it's not that used anymore and word or PowerPoint can do similar things, but stopping people from being able to use it or open existing documents is crazy. If you're on office 365 and don't convert your files before MS shuts down publisher you simply won't be able to open your old publisher documents with the office suite you pay for.
It's not though, if you're working in a restaurant/bar/shop and your boss tells you to give good service to everyone, especially (or in particular) Americans, then you're being told that it's more important that Americans get good service than other groups, even if you're supposed to provide good service to everyone.
The fact they may be a non-native speaker might mean that they intended "including" rather than "particularly", but it doesn't change the actual meaning of the words that they wrote.
they'd probably all have been decapitated
If that's a risk, do you not have underrun bars?
But also as someone else said they meant if it was a regular car instead of the bus, not the truck.
Depends how well they lock it down, Kindles are based on Linux and several of the recent models didn't have any jailbreaks available until winterbreak came out. Not sure if Amazon have managed to patch against it but I took the opportunity to jailbreak mine as soon as I found out about winterbreak.
Also worth noting that on the android based fire TV sticks, you can install android apps easily, not sure Amazon will give you that freedom on the Linux versions
thanks for using Leebra!
