Lately it's been collecting Indie Perfumes. They are much more adventurous and complex than most mainstream scents. It's really fun to pair scents with experiences or moods. I've roped my husband into it and it's like a puzzle game to find scents for him as well.
It's always hard to lose a pet. It's been almost 2 years since I lost my old boy Bandit. I still think about him frequently. I try and focus on fond memories and keep him in my heart.
Today I'm wearing my custom blend from Frankly Try This. It's a smoked sandalwood and strawberry blend, with a bit of vanilla. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and the customization process couldn't have been easier. If you're ever in the market for a custom blend, I definitely recommend this shop.
Today is BPAL Strawberry Buttercream Sufganiyot (notes: Deep-fried dough dusted with powdered sugar and filled with strawberry buttercream). This is almost a guilty pleasure scent. It's sweet and doughy and makes me happy. It's a fun treat to wear, it's not sophisticated or complex. It's just a nice straightforward sweet scent.
Thank you! I went from being a lurker on Reddit to trying to be more active and moderating. It's a change but I'm hopeful about this community/ Lemmy as a whole!
Continued testing of my Osmofolia order in prep for my larger review post in a few days! Today is Olfactorium, which was included as one of my free samples. I'm slightly disappointed in this one, only in that I wish it was stronger. It's a really nice creamy coffee with a bit of sweetness. I get the parchment and peppercorn when wet, but it fades really quickly. I have to really put my nose to my wrists to pick this scent up after a couple hours of wear. But today is a stinky warm science day. So I might have sweat some of it off in my PPE. I'll probably post my reviews tomorrow after my final wear test.
I wouldn't be opposed to starting a Sunday swap thread, but I'm doubtful on having enough active participants at this time.
My favorite perfume house (and the one that started my indie obsession) is BPAL. I started with a couple bottles from the yule 2020 collection, and it held there for couple a years. I rediscovered by bottles and love for perfume earlier this year. My collection has exploded, and I've been branching out into other shops. But BPAL remains dominant in my collection.
For skincare/bath and body, I've been really enjoying Fae Fragrance. I just got an order with some of the heavy hand cream and some lip balm. They are so nice! The prices are fabulous and so far the quality is great. I have terribly dry hands from the work I do, and living in nitrile gloves. The cream is so light and a tiny bit goes a long way.
And not quite indie, more boutique but I've been getting back into painting my nails to practice some more self care, and have been really enjoying my Mooncat polishes. I've hoping to check out the July PPU and explore some indie polish!
Today it's supposed to be 90 degrees, and we're still getting the terrible smokey air quality, so I wanted something light and uplifting. So I'm trying Moth by Arcana Wildcraft (notes: Lilac-infused champagne, wild-harvested juniper berries and boughs, white iris, dry vanilla bean soda, silken wings, and cool water.). I'm so surprised at this one, I didn't know a perfume could capture that fizzy feeling in a scent so well! It's slightly floral, but it's mostly crisp champagne with a light vanilla/herbal background. I'm loving this one way more than I expected. Perfect for the heat today.
Same! Happy to have you!
Today I'm wearing Osmofolia 24 Hour Drive (notes: Warm tonka bean, a suede jacket slung over the headrest, a half-rolled spliff spilled all over the backseat, a melted cone of cinnamon vanilla ice cream, and fleeting landscapes illuminated by the sun.) I absolutely love this scent. It was my initial favorite of the Osmofolia summer scents I tried. It's warm fuzzy suede with a hint of creamy cinnamon sweetness.
Yay! My arcana and Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab orders have shipped today!
Today I'm (prematurely, I couldn't wait) testing one of my Arcana Craves purchases. Honey Craves Coffee (notes: Roasting coffee beans, honey-drizzled cake, freshly baked vanilla cookies, soft, overstuffed chairs, and a hint of steamed milk.). Right now this is pure honey. I've read that this one needs a good amount of resting, but I'm not mad at the fresh smell either. It's such a sweet realistic honey scent. I can't wait to see what it morphs into when the other notes develop.
Thank you! I figured with the sale on new scents, collections coming down, and the freebie bottles it was a good time to order! I'm hoping it's not too coconut sun screeny, and more fruity.
Today I went antiquing, so I went with Stereoplasm Librarian (notes: Vintage perfume, rosewater, aged paper, velvet upholstery, Cherrywood, cognac, orange butter and mulling spice). This one was an unexpected favorite of the Stereoplasm scents I've tried. I ended up full sizing in the last round of clearance sales. It's such a vibe and I love it. Vintage and sophisticated, it's a great all around scent.
Today is Arcana Wildcraft Four Nights (petrichor and sleepy French lavender, then drying down to the softest woolen blankets piled on a cool forest floor at midnight.) This one is everything is says it is. It completely captures that feeling, and I imagine sitting on a warm blanket in the forest after a rain shower. It crazy how well rounded this one is. It's soft and cozy, the lavender isn't sharp or too herbaceous. It's neutral enough my husband enjoys wearing it as well. This is a lovely scent.
Today is Orange is Technicolor by Stereoplasm (notes: orange blossom petals with shea butter, house-distilled tangerine oil and apricot jam). I was really excited about this one at first. It's punchy realistic citrus. Seriously smells like you just peeled an orange and the oils are left on your skin. However, it disappears so fast. I know citrus is fleeting. But I'm talking undetectable in a couple hours. Wish it had better staying power.
They do loose shadows primarily right? I only ever tried notoriously morbid for loose shadows, haven't done much with indie Makeup products.
That's exciting! I haven't personally tried their products, but have heard good things! It's always a bummer when a scent base doesn't agree with you.
Today I'm doing a first wear test on Chantilly Cream from Solstice Scents. It's very sweet cream right off the bat, but I'm getting more fruitiness as it's drying. So far it's a win!
thanks for using Leebra!
