An election in four years … I like your optimism and I hope you are right.

WTF is a wifi company? Next up: how a cat5 company can protect your privacy??

Same as uk, many UK citizens would probably fail the UK tests.

Unit pricing helps. A French supermarket also puts shrinkflation warning stickers on shelves where packaging size changed but price has not, that too should be mandatory

There is no ‘good’ way of monitoring these platforms without a massive intrusion of privacy. Just like there is no good way of monitoring what people store on their hard disks, memory sticks, or burn onto dvd/cd and send through the mail.

We did not kill 72% of the Germans, or even 72% of the Nazis in WW2. I do not support Hamas, but I don’t support genocide either.

If true, they deserve a consumer boycott. But it’s almost impossible to stop buying Unilever products, the list is endless. List of brands

It is not the only railway connection. And there is still the original route from before this tunnel was built. So not sure how big the impact is.

Poor spez. If it wasn’t for bad luck, he’d have no luck at all.

Not convinced by this story. The guy allegedly worked in security on the base, so probably does not know anything about maintenance needed to keep the warheads operational. I also doubt western security services would let this guy speak to the BBC.

While there are some bubbles that need popping, especially in board rooms - i work for a large tech company that has not fired anyone because of AI. Rather the opposite, we have been expanding our AI team in the last 5+ years and have delivered succesful AI products. There is a lot more to AI than ChatGPT. Which, while impressive as a proof of concept, is not actually useful to business.

You want communities for related news to meta, twitter, tesla as well? Where do you draw the line?

Not sure when Musk ‘went crazy’ but it was long before that car was made. The 2018 Thai cave diving incident was the moment I realised something was off with this guy.

To be fair, that is probably up to Ukraine. Except that we aren’t offering those NATO brigades. I wish we would.

This is problematic. I have no issue with the instance defederating from toxic communities such as hexbear. And i understand that in the fediverse, admins are free to block what they want, just like i am free to join another instance. The problem here is blocking the communities because of a perceived risk of legal trouble for the instance owners. I don’t blame the instance owner/admins for not wanting to take the risk, but if the risk is real, every instance (unless based in a country that does not care about copyright laws) would have to block not only piracy related material, but also anything that may be copyright infringement or otherwise legally questionable. That would lead to a very fragmented fediverse, where you need separate accounts on different instances. That may be a minor inconvenience at most for techies, but a serious roadblock for the general public.
