Yeah it’s bizarre how they’re acting. As a customer, I’d feel better if the people preparing the food I’m consuming were wearing masks. It’s like they took the total opposite of wanting to appease their customers.
Website based notifications are the most idiotic, stupid, abusive thing ever in the current internet scene.
I work in IT and they cause so many issues. I 100% blame google and anyone else that added this feature to their browser.
I think it’s fairly obvious with what reddit did to alien blue when they bought it, that they don’t intend for the app to be user friendly or an app that people even like. They simply wanted to monetize it to hell and make it earn them the most $$$. That’s all it’s about with that company.
In case you aren’t aware, Alien Blue was the Apollo back in the day. It was the OG best third party iOS app for Reddit. Reddit bought the app and totally shit on it by removing everything good about it.
The FBI recommends using an ad blocker - “Use an ad blocking extension when performing internet searches.” > https://www.ic3.gov/Media/Y2022/PSA221221
This kind of stuff is just another reason that reinforces my decision to switch from Plex to Jellyfin. Plex is just adding way too much bloat and unnecessary features.
Woah that’s awesome. So ublock origin on android Firefox? Freaking nice!
Thanks for all your work on this! I was so happy to see a new update for Memmy this morning! Great way to start the day.
I was on Gmail with a custom domain for a good 7 years or so and in this last year I switched to iCloud mail and have been happy with it. I trust apple more than I do google when it comes to email privacy. And I think what really pulled me over to having apple host my mail is the private relay feature which is super cool.
Yeah I do.. family plan so split the cost with the fam. I find it worth it. But the price increases are certainly concerning. If it keeps going up I’ll drop it.
Dang I hope lemm.ee is safe. Hopefully Estonia doesn’t decide the same.
I went 6 days a couple weeks ago without power due to a massive storm. After a few days I purchased a small solar panel that has a USB port in it you can plug in anything that needs a charge. Works really good! It’s only 10 watt so charges pretty slowly but when you’re fully cut off from the grid, it’s a life safer. Definitely my most worthy purchase in quite some time.
That’s a really good observation. It legit feels like when I switched to Reddit from digg back in the day lol
This website here (https://fedidb.org/software/lemmy) that tracks Lemmy statistics shows around 60,000 monthly active users but no telling how accurate this is. It seems we’re in the middle of a major event taking place with people shifting over so it could take some time before we know how many people really left Reddit and moved here.
I work in the IT field and in the last 5 months or so the amount of users getting into sticky situations (fake virus warnings, notification hijacking, etc) has skyrocketed. I kept thinking they were visiting shady sites, but finally I found out it’s the ads on google search results. It’s ridiculous how shady the ads are and I completely blame google. The notification feature in chrome is the stupidest thing ever with how easy it is for sites to take advantage of ignorant users.
Here’s the video https://x.com/... pretty awful :-(
Ohh snap. Normally I’m the one correcting people! Thanks for telling me, I hate saying the wrong words lol
It looks kind of dumb though if I’m being honest. You can easily tell if someone didn’t inhale and instead just kept it in their mouth. Doesn’t look as complete. For acting, I’d consider this an issue.
Oh man whoever lost their baggie is probably freaking the heck out
Even if they did reverse the whole API decision, I wouldn’t go back now that we have Lemmy. It’s simply superior to what Reddit was.
thanks for using Leebra!
