I'm not American, so I'm just now catching up with what happened over there yesterday. The first time I saw this image (elsewhere), I was praying that this was AI-generated. And I hate seeing AI-generated stuff and I'm not religious either. I still wish it was AI but now I know it's not and... jesus christ.

Genuinely, who keeps posting shit like this on here? I keep seeing posts such as this one and it's honestly pushing me away from Lemmy. Why spend time on a platform that hates me? If being a man who didn't date (because of social anxiety, btw, not that you'd care, since clearly men are by default fascists, according to some comments here) is a sin, let us know on the front page, so that me and others like myself can avoid this place.

A lot of comments are, thankfully, calling this shitty behaviour out. But then I look at the post itself, which has 696 upvotes and 166 downvotes, and I'm like... I'm not wanted here.

Because these posts lump all men without relationships together. Does the Tumblr user above make any mention of exceptions? Nope. The post boils down to men who didn't date didn't succeed because "skill issue". This would imply that regardless of any other possible causes, I am deserving of ridicule because I don't live life like you.

You yourself make assumptions about me. I was right to say "because of social anxiety, btw, not that you'd care", because immediately here's a reply that implies my social anxiety is not real, or it is but it's not relevant. You assume the worst of me because I dare not have a girlfriend. This is precisely the issue. I've long since moved on from pursuing dating. I don't care if I never have a girlfriend anymore. However, what I do care is if people assume I'm a horrible piece of shit because of it.

Long story short, your comment is case in point: It does not matter what I say. My reply to you is useless. I never had a girlfriend and therefore anything I say is discarded because I have to be an asshole in order for that to be the case.

I remember playing an anime game on my phone in high school, and this one classmate made fun of me for it. Not because of anime, he already knew I watch them and didn't (seemingly, at least), care one way or the other. But because the game has a hub-like area where the characters are shown in a chibi design. He kept pestering me after that to try out Barbie games.

The "best" part? Dude literally said the game looked fun when he saw me playing the actual gameplay, and even asked me to let him play a round. Then the round ended, saw the hub, and he did a 180 on me and on the game.

To this day I don't feel comfortable watching certain anime in public. I'm not even talking about ecchi here. Just basically any stuff that is "girly".

There also seems to be a mistake in the first map. Down where it says "The least obsessed with spending time online", all three countries actually have the same time as the country above them, from the most obsessed. Japan should have 3:45, but it's noted as 9:38, same as South Africa above it. I could at least tell their actual average from looking at the country, but I can't do the same with Denmark since the text is too small on the map for it.

At least the second and third map don't have that issue, but yes, the color scheme is odd.

You know that's not what I mean by social anxiety. Even the fact that you put it in quotation marks makes it sound like you don't believe anxiety can be a genuine reason to have never dated. I have social anxiety. I am a man. I've never dated. Therefore, you will now assume I'm a fascist who hates women, stalks women, is violent towards women. You will also assume that my social anxiety (or "social anxiety", as you say) is a lie, a cover for the way you assume I act.

I'm not making excuses for actual fascists or actual men who do the things you mentioned above. I am, however, against this idea that men who struggle dating MUST do those things because there's, supposedly, no other explanation. Do the men you describe exist? Sure. Attacking any men not in a relationship is where I draw the line.

So tell me this then: When people hear that a man hasn't dated, why is the first thing that comes to your mind the assumption that "you walk around with a maga hat and tell women your body my choice"? Is that the only explanation? Is there no nuance in the world? If a man has never dated, is he automatically MAGA and anti-abortion?

Holy, this thread is a mess. If you think all men who struggle dating are fascists, this conversation ends here. If you accept the fact that not every man not in a relationship is a fascist, then we can talk. More specifically, we can talk about how the point isn't to "coddle fascists", but rather to not antagonize new men into the arms of Andrew Tate and others.

Is someone with social anxiety, therefore struggles dating, a fascist? You might know a far-right socially anxious guy, sure, but that doesn't prove anything beyond the fact that this one person is a fascist. I'm not sure how it's right wing propaganda to say that generalization is bad. But I'm also not sure whether you realize an issue (in this case, men struggle with relationships) can have more than one cause.

And once again, I am accused of lying because it doesn't fit your narrative. I'm not even gonna expand further on the fact that I do have friends who happen to be girls. The reason I won't expand further is because you'll just assume I am lying about it. Just as Vreyan31 did, and just as you did.

You are purposedly pretending not to understand that my issue is not sex, it's people assuming I am a piece of shit for not having sex. Your attitude is just proving my point further. The only benefit of the doubt I can give you is that you can't comprehend what I was saying. Also, as far as I know, isn't Grindr for LGBTQ+? If so, why would I go there? I am straight. Or do you think straight men should "stop whining" and date other men? How is this different from conservatives telling gay people to just not be gay?

This was one of my early questions and one of the first reasons that started pushing me away from religion.

At one point I asked my religion teacher in high school something among the lines of "So if a hypothetical person is the most good person on Earth from all the ways of looking at things, except he doesn't believe in God, does the latter invalidate everything else and he'd still go to hell?". She pretty much said yes.

Luckily she was chill about some of us in the class not believing. We just agreed to disagree, and while there were multiple debates on various religious subjects started by someone in the class questioning something she was saying, it never got heated.

This is such a super-specific community that I'm not sure why it exists... Count me in, subscribed!

I don't know what the very first thing was back when I didn't yet have internet and could only use it when visiting my uncle who did.

But I remember the first site I visited after I had internet myself. I went on the Cartoon Network site to play some of the games they had.

I'm expecting Maomao to see him, have someone refer to him as Ka Zuigetsu, and Maomao will be all like "It is a pleasure to meet you". Not that she wouldn't recognize him, but that she would act like she doesn't.

Didn't get the chance to read a lot of manga this past week, but I did start Ruridragon, one of @wjs018@ani.social's recommendations for me in the previous thread. Only read Chapters 1-4 so far, but it's really good. And for some reason, I could totally see Aoi Yuuki voicing Ruri if and when Ruridragon gets an anime. Granted that would be way in the future since there's only 7 chapters so far. But it feels like it'd fit.

EDIT: Seems that the 8th chapter released yesterday. I'm not caught up just yet, so I didn't know.

I don't get the uncanny valley from them, but I guess that can vary from person to person, so that's fair.

The thing about chats being filled with too many people for any one person to matter I agree with. But that's a big streamer thing, not exclusively a vtuber thing.
