For most people that is definitely true. I however was a cashier for six years before graduating college and am at the very least just as fast. My problem is usually the scanner won't keep up with me since there always seems to be a delay for the system to verify I have put the item in the bag before it lets me scan another.

I did need AA to get sober. Also as an atheist, it took me quite a few meetings to find a group that aligned with that. I honestly stayed away from getting help for a long time due to my concerns with the faith aspect.

My GOD was a Group Of Drunks in a meeting that I believed in and we helped each other stay sober.

Haven't been to a meeting in five years. However I don't think I would have gotten sober eight years ago without the community I found in AA.

Still very much an atheist. Probably more so now than before.

I left Reddit after 14 years. Was really sad to see what it had changed into over time.

Grandson is probably the closest still making music. Just went independent last year. Have seen them twice, their shows are like going to a protest. A lot of love and anger in the crowd.

I almost quit then too. I eventually built a huge copper mine for just producing copper powder and conveying it to my main factory. It still was a struggle until I maxed all my production out there.

Also an engineer. I'm lucky that most of my meetings are before noon now after I moved to a different time zone. Though, that also means I have early meetings I have to be alert and ready for. Of course by the time I have a couple hours at the end of my work day to actually get something done I am mentally exhausted and need to start resting for my early morning meetings the next day.

I am a therapist whose wife died a year ago, and I am crawling my way back into being a functional person again.

Is this in reference to ICE and Renee Good, because I think we know what that ICE agent decided? Create a problem so they can pull the trigger.

If you think the new job has the potential to be more fulfilling and you are willing to take the gamble they work out in the future. I would say do it.

I took a job at my first start-up three years ago, where I actually took a pay cut. Partly because I didn't see my role still being around much longer (I was right), and I was ready to finally try a privately owned company. So sick of the big corporate culture.

It has paid off so far. I have had many opportunities to advance and try different aspects of engineering and maintenance, including management. I also make +$25k more now than I did before changing jobs, and now work remotely.

Though the biggest thing for me has been being able to be proud of what I do and feel like I am making a difference. I worked in engineering mostly supporting oil and gas for over a decade, and am finally working in renewables and upcycling on some pretty cool technology I actually believe in.

I had also stayed in jobs that I grew to hate too long and literally almost died from it.

I would still ask for something more in the offer though. It sounds a bit too lateral of a move for taking the risk.

I learned it in grade school in New Hampshire. Fridays were half days in winter and our PE was going to the mountain for the afternoon and getting skiing instruction. I was in a small poor town with no street lights, we were not rich. Equipment was subsidized for the kids who couldn't afford it. I do wonder if money to support it came from outside our community. There are a few winter Olympians that I graduated highschool with.

I never realized how privileged I was to have that experience until I was in college. I have probably gone to the mountains less than a dozen times since then. Too expensive, and I have better things to do with my time now.

I'm in the US in the Pacific North West, mid 30s, and I can (and do) drive manual transmissions. My last two cars both were manuals. I hate CVTs, but could live with an automatic if it was quick enough with paddle shifters.

Engineer working in sustainable energy.

I'm a Mechanical Engineer now and finally am working in some cool cutting edge upcycling technology after working oil and gas adjacent for a dozen years.
