IT dingus from Germany who'll move to Australia soon™

FireWire400 5 points 13 hours ago

That sounds like a pretty obvious feature, though? I'm not saying it's good but the original article by Nine News Australia just makes it sound like it's just a feature of the app.

That's actually quite reassuring somehow. Oh well, I'll make the best out of it

Fuck this guy. It could've been a minor thing but he chose to be as obnoxious as possible about it just to be able to tell himself that he's the good guy.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed to get a car.

“steer the sustainable development of the sector in New South Wales.”

Nothing sustainable about it but sure, go ahead and destroy everything for the sake of profits.

I haven't even moved to Australia yet and I'm already getting mad at everything that happens there...

It's a good start.

The 3 sisters in Katoomba is an absolute spectacle of natural beauty.

Been there last year and it's absolutely stunning. I really hope the whole thing will be stopped somehow, would be a great shame for it to be destroyed just like that.

Profits? It’s not even financially sustainable.

Why is every other company doing this then? FOMO? I guess building up reliance on AI and then switching to a billing model that actually makes them money, but I can't see that working out too well considering the public opinion of AI worsens by the second.

Unrelated but one thing that infuriates me to no end it that even though most German TV personalities speak English badly (like sub-middle-school badly), they always get perfect subtitles reflecting what they meant to say, but not what they did say.

I'm sorry but I just can't feel sorry for the people working at Meta, or any of those multi-billion dollar companies anymore.

How about that Gina; why don't you, as Australia's richest person, BUY Elmo some islands if you love him so much?

Can you remove it via adb shell (if you know what package its part of)?

AI factory

It's a data centre. You're not fooling anyone by giving it a different name.

It’s surreal how seemingly everyone in this article - including the journalist - has adopted the rebranding effort.

I'm frustrated with that shit, it is a data centre with all the environmental and humanitarian implications, yet they seem 100% on board with it and with adopting Firmus' stupid attempt at a rebrand. Great journalism.

Looks like one of those flip phones with large keys for elderly people. Looks like it's running Sailfish OS.

It's also at least $500...

Includes audiophile grade HD Audio

I somehow doubt that

DAC chips from ESS and Cirrus Logic

What.

I can assure you that they won't just dump any toxic slop their facility produces into the river, they'd never! /s

That's not necessarily true, look at the Hiby R3 Pro II for instance. Even older players like the FiiO X3 II or the iPod 5.5 Gen (which is considered audiophile by many).
