The Interac debit system is Canadian. I would like to see it expanded to include a credit division that does credit cards like Visa/MasterCard, but since we are a much smaller market than the US, we wouldn't have nearly as big of a cushion if there were to be any sort of major fraud activity. But for me, local purchases are always debit. I only use my CC for purchases where my debit card isn't accepted (which is basically only online shopping).

I found out that Saskatchewan is on permanent Daylight time (more evening sun) which is, by most studies, the 'worse' option. However, it is still better than changing the clocks and once you stop the flip-flop, it is so much better.

And still no word on any plans to ensure houses are bought by people who don't already own a whole bunch of investment properties.

Until we address that issue, building more will continue to make the rich richer. But this is to be expected of the politicians whose lobbyists consist of real estate investors.

This sounds like productivity is commensurate with pay. Maybe instead of advocating for interest rates to drop (which has issues of its own), we should be advocating for proper pay raises?

SaskTel is not perfect. We do what we can to ensure good coverage for the people of Saskatchewan at decent prices. Unfortunately the SaskParty has been chipping away at us via underfunding and headcount mandates. This makes it much harder to keep services supported as well as they should be.

SaskTel is under attack. Quietly. Stealthily. All in an attempt to prove that it would be better to sell to private interest. If anyone else is here from SK, please don't vote SaskParty. They are quietly killing our crown corps (SGI, SaskPower, and SaskEnergy too).

It was only "forcing" in the same way we force people to not drink and drive.

Both the vaccine restrictions and drunk driving laws are in place for the safety of everyone around you. You are free to choose to defy those restrictions, but that doesn't mean you are free from the consequence of that choice. Just like driving drunk could result in the loss of your license. No one was breaking down doors and literally forcing a vaccine into people. There was always a choice. But there are also consequences for choosing the option that endangers the rest of the society you are participating in.

I am totally on board with there being consequences for stupid decisions that endanger others.

Every medication has side-effects. The idea is to assess whether the risk of side-effects outweighs the detriments of the disorder being treated.

Not all medications work for all patients and good clinicians will have their patients assessed regularly for effectiveness and change or remove medications as necessary.

If you aren't going to give us walkable cities or really efficient public transit, then we need cars and therefore need the parking. There is no way in this or any world that I am hauling $300 worth of groceries to a bus stop, just to sit there and wait half an hour (at -20C) for a dilapidated bus that may or may not even run on time and has the risk of someone stealing some of those overpriced groceries on the 30 minute ride it would take to get home.

I live in Saskatchewan and it will very frequently get to -30 or below. I cannot ride a bike in that safely without risk of frost bite, so cycling is out of the question (at least in the winter). I drive as small of a car as I could buy, but even small cars are dwindling now in favor of the giant SUV's and pickup trucks that seem to think they own both the road and the parking lots. The public transit in my city is so inefficient that it would take me an hour worth of riding the bus, and a transfer, just to get downtown. I can drive that in 10 minutes. Getting to the other side of the city? 90 minutes to 2 hours and multiple transfers. Or 15 to 20 minutes by car.

Our public transit and walk-ability needs to be remedied long before you start building over parking lots. Businesses with no parking will suffer a lack of business if there is no parking and no change to the current systems.

Public Libraries are important. Period.

You would be far better off speaking to one of those debt consolidation places than trying to juggle it around like that. I'm not sure where you are located, but hopefully there is one that can help.

I agree with the premise that each person does what they can, when they can.

However we can't forget to also put pressure on the giant conglomerates pumping out oil/gas emissions without consequence. No matter how vegan we go, it will never be enough if the big corpos keep getting away with being the worst outputters.

You can initiate a mail forward. It costs money (not much) but it would allow anything specifically addressed to your name at your old address to be forwarded to the new address. I'm not sure how long the strike would be, so the costs could add up over time, but hopefully it's not too onerous for you.

Your cousin's case is a legitimate medical reason for an exemption and is why the rest of us need to maintain herd immunity by getting vaccinated. A bunch of guys I work with were refusing to get vaccinated just because they didn't want to be told what to do. Guys like that are actively endangering the people who CAN'T get vaccinated, like your cousin. Herd immunity is critical in order to limit the spread of diseases and protect the people who can't get vaccinated or who have other medical complications that put them at high risk.

Legitimate medical exemptions are fine. Deciding that you "just don't want to" should come with consequences. My partner's 87 year old mother could be killed by Covid. We have all maintained flu/Covid shots to protect her.

This is the result of treating housing as an investment instead of a human right.
